Wow! The sun came out and Smith Rock was in sharp relief as we climbed down and across the river, and then up, up, up. Moderate difficulty, but a total pleasure to visit. You can watch some climbers going up and down the sheer faces....More

We moved to Central Oregon and one of our favorite places to visit is Smith Rock State Park! The Rock formations and the Crooked River that winds through the park are beautiful. There are plenty of trails from beginner to expert and watching the rock...More

You can go to Smith Rock to walk, hike, or watch the climbers. Its natural beauty makes any type of visit special. Just one caution: summertime visitors should expect a hot experience as there is very little shade.

Smith Rock is a fantastic destination. Hiking, biking, rock climbing, just walking..playing in the river, photography, animal watching...I'm sure I'm forgetting something! Challenges galore..caves, and rock type caves for the kids to oh and ahh over.

Once you walk down to the river, this is a good, level walking path for children, adults, and dogs on leash. There are also rock climbing opportunities for those who like that sort of thing.

This is pretty much a FULL SUN hike in the summer months. It is a blast to see the rock climbers and the river running through at the same time. It is gorgeous and serene. You need a park pass to park there. Easy access,...More

Smith Rock is a really beautiful rock formation and seemed to be really popular for hiking and climbing. We didn't have time (hiking) or skills (climbing) so we decided just to take couple of photos and admire the beauty of nature.

There's only one car entrance and it's a short loop around so you can see most of what there is from the car before you decide to park
