You'll need a photo ID to get in. But the view from the cupola at the top of the building is great. You will see several historical photos showing how Portland has changed, from the Park Blocks that were once empty blocks to the growth of housing on the West Hills. Worth it. And free. (A lot of stairs)

Across from Nordstrom, Macy's and nearby Nike, Apple, Microsoft, etc. for shoppers, This really is the center of Portland downtown where many events happen. Visitors and locals need to be cognizant of homeless people in and around this area, however.-the reason for 3* If you are in the city center, it is a place you will see in any case.

As a history buff this is really a neat old building. You have to make the trip all the way to the top.

For obvious reasons you need to show photo ID before they let you into this place, but the guards are friendly and the scanner is less traumatic than those at airports. Once you are through with that, they let you wander anywhere you like in the whole building, so long as the door is open! It's a lovely old building,... More

A short security check with ID as we are non nationals, and we were able to wander almost anywhere throughout the building. didn't manage the copula with the stairs though, everywhere else accessible by lift. The lift itself was a thing of beauty. Staff approachable and friendly, telling us what there was to see, the court itself was great having... More

First time ever visiting the courthouse and it was well worth the wait! What a gorgeous old building in downtown Portland. Do need to go through a screening to enter but it was no big deal.

Be prepared to go through a security check similar to the airport, after all this is a working courthouse. But, it's fairly painless and well worth it to see this beautiful building. Once inside you're allowed to roam around and enter any room which isn't being used. If you can climb a couple of flights of stairs to the cupola,... More

We were waiting our walking tour and saw we could tour the courthouse. Unfortunately as non US residents we weren't allowed access without photo ID so had to put off the visit until the next day. The staff were very friendly and apologised about not allowing us in and did so in a nice way, but told us we're to... More
