A fun place to ride your bike, take a walk or watch the fireworks!

Historic Bridge, read about it in the Portland Bridges book. Take a walk across it, or bike it. You can do a loop from the waterfront park to the eastside esplanade. It is fun... read more

It is an old bridge and kind of cool, but I am always nervous driving over it because it shakes. Pretty though.

It can be scary, a little shaky on the user lanes. Nice to speed past cyclists but it can be confusing if you need to go to the left at the end. They kind of weave in and out. Nice view of the bridge on the bridge and on the bridge boat tour. It is busy and old, but kind... More

I love the Hawthorne bridge. I leads to amazing restaurants, quirky shopping and a wonderful yarn shop!

This is an interesting bridge as they do not built them like this anymore. It is however a very busy bridge so plan according.

Historic Bridge, read about it in the Portland Bridges book. Take a walk across it, or bike it. You can do a loop from the waterfront park to the eastside esplanade. It is fun viewing the fireworks in the summer from the bridge.

Not the newest, or prettiest, this steel bridge allows you to cross from either the East side, or the West side. After traveling in either direction, unless serious, untold consequences occur, you will be on the opposite side of said bridge. Magnificent! You can walk, ride, or drive over this bridge. Again, nice tech humans. If it takes more than... More

Just an old bridge. You can walk, bike, or drive across it. I chose to bike across the bridge and along the water front area. It was enjoyable. Nothing very exciting about the bridge unless you're into history.

Just a bridge BUT, a very old bridge at that. It blends into the Hawthorne District which is a gentrified area filled with wonderful shops, restaurants and more...Go see it!

This bridge takes a lot of bicycle and pedestrian traffic, especially in the warmer months. The sidewalk is marked one side for bicycles, the other for pedestrians, but it can kind of get a bit congested out there with not that much space to maneuver. I would recommend doing a circle, crossing the Hawthorne bridge to the east side (if... More

Hawthorne Bridge is Portland's busiest bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, while being a busy vehicular bridge. The bridge has nice river views, but not for drivers, as the lanes are tight. It feels like a homey community bridge to me. It is fun to drive across. It is the oldest operating vertical lift bridge in the country.
