The concert hall is very nice and there are tours to visit it without a concert on Saturdays mornings. The main group who plays in this hall is the Oregon Symphony with a variety of programs. The sound quality is average and definitely better in the upper parts of the balcony. Dress circle is good but pricey and for some... More

The use of cell by the audience was very distracting. The people in back and to the side kept snapping photo with the flash catching the corner of my eye.People using the flashlight and leaving phones screen brightly lit. we spent $250.00 to enjoy Tony Bennett, but get far better courtesy at any theater in town for a 10% the the... Stop by and grab a drink before your show. Then take a look around. It's really a nice venue and it really is so Portland!

This place had me as soon as I saw the marque. Lots of vintage style lights just like back in the day of Garbo and Grant. Feels like walking into a classy palace from a by-gone era. The architecture is eye candy. Not a bad seat in the place. Small, intimate auditorium. And parking is conveniently located across the street,... More

I was there for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The sound was excellent and the seats were just comfortable even though they looked dated. The entire ambiance was very classic. Like 1940's grand-band style.

The Schnitz is basically a repurposed, slightly remodeled auditorium - but architecturally and visually interesting and a comfortable place for culture and entertainment. [Take the free tour offered on weekdays and Saturdays for the history and specifics. The next door Center for the Performing Arts is included]. The main lobby is three stories tall with chandeliers and lots of light.... More

Back in the day - 1960's tis theatre housed the Paramount Movie Theatre. It had many first fun films and vintage and classic lobby. A change in ownership and a revamping of the space captured the character of the stage, the acoustics of a music hall and a seating space that ranks one of the best sight lines in Portland.... More

I have seen many performances at the "Schnitz" and find that the acoustics are fantastic and it is also a very beautiful venue. It is right downtown, walking distance to many restaurants. A parking structure is within the block.

This is such a beautiful theater. It's not so big that you feel too far from the performers. The seats are a bit tight. We went to hear Brian Wilson and he and his band put on a fantastic 2.5 hour show. All his great hits had us rockin'. The southpark parking garage is conveniently located nearby and had a... More
