Lovely and quiet place to appreciate a memorial; which is hard to come by. Go around the small hill and read about it on the walls. It is worth the time. They remembered both the happy and sad times that is related to history; which I think is special. No memorial has ever done that.

Moving somber memorial that is well thought out with a circular pathway leading to the memorial. An easy way from any of the zoo parking lots.

While the famous Vietnam Memorial in D.C. takes you down slowly into the earth, this one creates the opposite, by slowly spiraling upward. I'm not a Vet, so I don't know how I would respond to this memorial if I was. I thought the various Oregon "current events" were a tad precious and annoying, but I liked the break down... More

This is a wonderful tribute to the brave Americans that served and died in Vietnam who were from Oregon. It's a beautiful setting and the memorial is informative and very well done.

What a beautiful memorial. Well laid out. A moving tribute to our local veterans. The scenic walk and reflection was enjoyable and memorable, and the local news items posted for each year had us pause longer, reading the names and reflecting on the loss. We enjoyed a nice drive through washington park, starting from Burnside Avenue and visiting the Holocaust... More

Unique tribute to Vietnam Veterans. Very interesting to walk up into a kind of spiral. Chronological order is followed. The only question mark is whether the non Vietnam related observations are helpful. I think the memorial should just stick to Vietnam related issues and observations.

The upward spiral in the beautiful setting is inspiring, and the information of the times places ordinary state-side context to the upheaval in Vietnam. It really makes the visitor realize how so many young men and families were ripped out of their lives by this conflict, but in a sane manner. I left the top of the spiral thoughtful and... More

Well thought out memorial. Beautiful surroundings and well planned. As you move around the memorial within periods of time, there are explanations of what was going on in Portland at the same time there is an explanation of what was happening in Southeast Asia. The names of those who died during that time period are engraved in stone. Peaceful and... More

This memorial has a unique and wonderful design. It is set up so as you walk the path it begins to spiral out into the circle of life. Along the path there are sections of dates with those from Oregon who lost their lives that year and current happenings in Oregon during the specific time frames. Felt very personal, peaceful...
