Nice urban walkway located on the banks of the Willamette adjacent to the downtown city center area. The trail runs throughout downtown to the South Waterfront area. The Saturday Portland Market is located on the walkway and a definite must visit on the weekends. Also good for biking and running.

There are so many starting points for this multi-user (walkers, bicyclist, wheelchairs and strollers) urban paved trail. For this excursion I started at the Willamette River Parkway (Off of MaCadam Avenue perpendicular to Nebraska Ave) walking north in the late afternoon. The light was gorgeous as it filtered through the lingering rain clouds of the day. The river was speckled... More

It was suggested to me to walk on the ariverwalk along the Willamette River. This is a great walk with lots of bridges to view. I walked from Hawthorne to Burnside. While I was there it was Fleet Week and many military boats were parked along the ariverwalk for tours. The Maritime museum is also aboard a boat along the... More

Several people told us that we needed to walk, or better yet ride along the River Walkway. Portland has done a great job building a beautiful open space with commanding views of east and west Portland. So we got on our comfortable shoes and set out. Sadly, this wonderful public space gets 5 stars for beauty but is overwhelmed by... More

The walkway was packed with runers, walkers, fast and slow bikers. A place where you had to be on the lookout so you did not get run over. Also loads of bums and street folks. I would not do it again.

The River Walk is approx 5 miles long and runs on both sides of the river right through the center of town. Portland has 12 bridges spanning the river and many have pedestrian walkways so you can cross back and forth across the river at will. I especially liked to start out right after daylight and walk the entire length,... More

I stayed at the Rose Hotel. Directly across the street from the riverfront it was nice to have this scenic walkway along the river to catch the great views of the water, boats, bridges etc. caution be on the lookout for bikes and joggers everywhere. There is a different element of screamers as well. Portland has embraced its homeless community... More

We loved being able to just stroll along on the walkway or pop down to the water side. With small coffee shops along the way this made for a very pleasurable stroll.

The River walk is interesting from a purely human perspective, the city has done nothing to preserve the parks grass and as such its basically sand and mud most of the way. I though hippies were extinct. Not so! they have all moved to the river walkway and I felt like we were in the age of aquarius as we... More
