The tour is currently seasonally closed. The first tour of 2017 will be on Friday, May 5th at 11am.

From May 5th until November 1st, 2017, there will be a Free Tour of Portland every single day of the week at 11am.

For a full schedule of the 2017 tour season, please see the "Tour Calendar" page of our official website.

Think of this tour as stand up comedy about Portland's weird and wacky history and culture. Sure to have you laughing the whole way through, this is without question the most entertaining walking tour in town! Come find out why local comedian Erik Kennon's Free Walking Tour is so much more fun than one that costs $20 up front!

The Free Tour starts everyday at 11am on the sidewalk of SW 6th Ave in front of Pioneer Courthouse (across the street from Pioneer Square and the Visitor Information Center.) No reservation necessary! Just show up! The tour meets 7 days a week, rain or shine :-) Look for Erik, who will be wearing his signature neon green "Free Tour" t-shirt. The tour is about 2 to 2.5 hrs long and ends in front of Voodoo Donuts, Chinatown, and the Saturday Market. You'll receive insider tips on restaurants and nightlife, and lots of photo ops! Your guide works for tips- you can be assured of the highest quality!

I attended this with my sister, brother-in-law, and baby niece in May 2016, and had a great time! Erik is hilarious, so I'm surprised other people weren't laughing, but maybe they just weren't paying enough attention. Erik has a magnetic presence and speaks eloquently. Definitely wear comfy shoes, although it's not a strenuous walk. We asked for food recommendations after,... More

A great holiday place. The life style is relaxed, the ambience-1960s with excellent Arts and Crafts shopping. Make sure to do the walking tour it's a great way to get a cultural overview of the City. Accomodation is varied and not too expensive. Sometimes called the " Cultural Capital of the North West" Portland is also a great starting point... More

This was my first free walking tour and truthfully, I had low expectations. However, I was blown away by Eric's professionalism and knowledge of the city. He also had a great sense of humor and was very personable. We did walk around a lot and it did seem to be about 2+ hours but my group had to leave a... More

The tours start at Pioneer Square. Eric gives you a warm welcome. Throughout the tour the history of the town is revealed. Fun facts, humor and the enthusiasm of Eric make this a must do in Portland. It is a walking tour but very doable. Great chance to discover this wonderful city. We were very well informed. At the end... More

The free walking tour of Portland takes 2+ hours around key areas of downtown Portland. It was a large group - but it worked - the tour guide had a portable mic & speaker. Eric is the only tour guide - great & entertaining. Very informative on the history & quirky aspects of Portland. He works for tips - and... More

We only had one day in Portland and we are so glad we included this tour. Eric was an amazing fountain of information. You will quickly become immersed in the history of Portland and get a feel for the residents - past and present. His humor is priceless and he doesn't hesitate to voice an opinion or two. We saw... Our family visited Portland for the first time and wanted to become quickly acquainted with the city, so I contacted Secrets of Portlandia to see if I could book a private tour as soon as we got there. The price was very reasonable for a two hour, private tour of the city. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew how... More

I highly recommend this walking tour. It was a nicely paced couple hours of walking around downtown Portland and Erik did a great job of bringing the city's stories to life as he was very engaging and certainly very funny. An excellent way to spend my last morning in Portland (before I proceeded to bury myself at Powell's) and I'd... More
