We love to go to the Tea House in the Chinese Garden, to take a quiet break, to enjoy the visual changing of the seasons, and to appreciate the cultural richness of our sister city. The information available on a casual walk or a docent guided tour will enrich your understanding of one of the oldest cultures still on this... More

The visit to the Chinese Garden was a highlight of the trip. I strongly recommend taking one of the tours to truly understand the concept of this particular type of Chinese Garden. Our guide was so informative. The Garden is very beautiful and you forget that you are surrounded by an urban area. Don't miss a visit to the Tea... More

WOW!!! We unexpectedly walked past this place and had to go in. The admission is $7-9 depending on if you're a student/senior/general and it is so worth it. Definitely take an hour or 2 to stop by here after lunch and just enjoy the views and the relaxing environment. It feels like a world away from the city as soon... More

We used the free cultural pass from the library. The free guided tour was nice and informative. There were many interesting plants, special areas to explore and unique features. It in the middle of downtown, squeezed into a small block. It will only take about an hour to tour.

Surrounded by decorative walls and spanning an entire city block, the Lan Su Chinese Garden seems miles away from its location in the somewhat unsavory Portland Old Town / Chinatown neighborhood. Enjoy the stunning landscaping, the calming water features, the soothing teahouse. You have to pay to enter, but when you're looking for a nice getaway from the city, within... More

This is a must for visitors as it encapsulates the best of a formal Chinese garden with grottoes, small visitor rooms and a tea room/restaurant - all in about one acre!

I've gone to this sanctuary a number of times throughout my years in Portland, but I just had a chance to come back here with my girlfriend. It's been at least 6-7 years for me and I forgot how tranquil and beautiful this place is. Beautiful flowers, ponds and Chinese style decors built in the middle of the city. This... More
