It is a nice place to let the kids run around and cool off when you are down by the waterfront. There is a piano out by the Springs as well that people can just go up and play too. There are lots of benches to sit underneath trees while kids run in the fountain. I wouldn't necessarily go out... More

A neat fountain in the Tom McCall Waterfront Park- it's close to the river and has nice views of the water, the mountains and the cityscape. Lots of kids running around and having fun in the spray. Nice to walk thru and cool off on a hot day!!

This fountain is fun to watch, particularly when a passel of kids are darting back and forth trying to dodge its jets. However, if you are a tired hiker who spots those big blocks around the edge of the fountain, apparently well away from the aquatic action, be warned that they will periodically erupt and spray anyone who has squatted... It was 95 degrees on our day in Portland. We walked over here while going to the Saturday Market. It was so nice to dip our feet in. My daughter got pretty wet and loved it!

I've photographed seniors and newly engaged couples near this fountain. It's also nice just to sit in the warm weather and enjoy the spray!

On the waterfront park, play in the springs with the other 4-40 y/o's. Great people watching. Rent a bike right there, or catch a pedicab and tour the beautiful waterfront.

Water and kids- there you go. A bit more screaming and crying than I am comfortable dealing with. Otherwise nice in how the jets of the fountain are moderated by the pace of traffic.

Fun for children the summer. Located within easy walking distance of the core of downtown, near the river.
