Powell’s Bookstore is the largest Bookstore in the US. It has everything, inexpensive to moderately expensive, used books to new books. Covering all genres. In store map, professional and personable staff. They buy some books and it is a good place to clean out your...More

All I can say is that this place is massive. I am not an avid reader at all but this place was worth getting to see at least once. I pretty sure they had every book possible. Worth the trip downtown to see this place....More

If you love books make this a stop. Floors and floors and rooms and rooms of books. A rare book room. That’s all I need to say.

This is an amazing place that never disappoints. There is nothing quite like it in the entire United States. While other bookstores are shutting their doors in droves, Powell’s continues to thrive. It’s a testament to Portland’s culture that it can support such a place.

If you are a fan of books that you can hold in your hand, or any written content, on any topic that you can imagine, it is easy to purposely get lost in reading, browsing and learning in this amazing book store. It's a maze...More

This place is phenomenal. We sourced many obscure titles in here that we were not at all expecting to find. Visit Powell’s, you will lose yourself here!

Powell’s is the Portland Mecca for book aficionados. My friend and I enjoyed wandering through the aisles, though he is disabled and found few places to sit.

Most people who come to Portland seem to think this is a mandatory stop and rave about it! I found it to have ridiculously overpriced used and new books at outrageous prices with the nominal benefits of a coffee shop and reading lounge atmosphere! Their...More

Powell's is more than a bookstore. It's a legendary literary institution with over a million titles in 3500 different sections. The physical layout of the shop is so huge they have color-coded areas so you can find your way. Happily there are information desks in...More

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
