We visited one morning to see some of the sites, including the rose garden. The whole place was cordoned off with what looked like crime scene tape. I guess we had bad timing as they were spraying for something at the time.

We went for the Rose Test Garden, which is 4.5 acres of just the most astonishing varieties of roses, both in sizes as well as colors. We took the MAX to the park, then the free shuttle from the zoo entrance to the Rose Garden....More

Lovely area. Hard to believe to close to a metropolitan city of busy Portland. Park was teeming with people so plan accordingly. Parking is slim. Try the courtesy can. Worth the trip.

The Japanese Garden is supposedly the largest outside of Japan. The Rose Garden has 700 varieties of roses. The expanse and layout of the park are amazing. It contains a Zoo, a Holocaust memorial and many other attractions.

Nice Park with lots to do - from the zoo to a mansion tour. This park has something for everyone. There are tons of trails which vary from shaded woodsy areas to sun beaten paths - so make sure you dress and pack accordingly!

Portland's main park with the zoo, rose test garden, Japanese garden and arboretum. Big splash of green up in the hills.

No specific bike trails, but there are plenty of bikers on the winding roads through the park. Check out the park map.
