As we drove over the bridge several times, my wife kept saying we have to get down to that fishing pier. WE finally did. It makes for an interesting stroll with leisurely fishing from a chair and families crabbing together and beautiful views of the...More

Just east of the historic Bayfront, this area starts about at where the seals "perform" eastward. It's a flat, easy-going stroll with benches, birds, and signs along the way for fresh catches of the day for sale. Off in the distance is the iconic bridge,...More

We come here pretty often to go crabbing. It's a long stretch of dock open to the public and free. Would like to come down when low tide to catch some gapers but it's too early in the morning for me at 4 am. If...More

If you stop any place come to the pier. We saw lots of seals on the rocks & on platforms set up just for them. Watching them wrangle for a spot was fun, with them yelling at each other. On the docks fishing boats were...More

A working fish dock, with a lot of fishing boats of many different sizes, which brought in different catches. Very laid back atmosphere when we were there, late morning. The noisy and quarrelsome male sea lions were lazing on the breakwater, and piers. Quite a...More

Nicel place to throw your crab traps/rings, but be sure to be aware of the tides, and which direction the water is flowing, as it's easy to get stuck! Lots of friendly people. Parking can be tight, just be patient.

You can spend 5 minutes to 30 minutes watching people pull in their crab buckets. Low tide is best just because there are more crabs to see.

Walking along the Newport Bay Street Pier offers you a chance to get up-close and personal with the seals playing on the piers & in the water. The street also has a lot of restaurants and gift shops. I found a few lovely gifts at...More

Used to be more fun and more interesting. Now it seems so run down and fewer places to visit. We didn't stay long.
