I’ve done a few glass blowing sessions before at other places but this was definitely the most hands on and fun session I have done. Jeff was an excellent and patient teacher, it was easy to follow his instruction and he let me do most of the work and only jumped in for the more advanced steps in the process. My husband and I had a wonderful time. Picked up our pieces the next day and my finished piece came out beautiful! I highly recommend doing a glass blowing session with Jeff at the Hot Shop when in Newport. You can reserve a session on his website..

I took my 12-year-old daughter to The Hot Shop and it was the best experience! Jeff was an amazing teacher, very patient, and talked her through the entire process, allowing her to be completely hands-on. He was great at explaining and helping us feel comfortable. I had done glass blowing before, but this experience was the best by far!

We reserved a glass blowing class for a family of 3 (2 adults and a 14 year old). They were 1 hour apart, but he took us all together, and we just went one after the other. He was such a great teacher, so experienced at glass blowing, it was a fantastic experience!

Highly recommend blowing glass with Jeff at the Hot Shop. First of all it's easy to sign up in his website. We booked the night before for our family of three. He also offers some evening time which is highly convenient when so many touristy things close early. There are a wide variety of things to try. He's very patient and teaches you about the process. Would definitely do this again!

In town to celebrate our anniversary, I wanted to treat my wife to something new and fun that she'd never done. Being the creative type, I thought that learning to blow glass would be something she'd really enjoy. What I didn't anticipate was just how fantastic an experience this would be and how great a time we'd have working with Jeff at the Hot Shop. Jeff was so knowledgeable and yet a very relaxed teacher. Jeff was also very conscious of the hazards of his work and made sure we knew all the right things to do and not do to stay safe. He'd even gone the extra mile, in this time of Covid, to provide extra sanitization and protections while working with the glass. Now, on to the glass blowing itself. What an experience! It was challenging and rewarding to see your creation come to life. Again, Jeff, was a great instructor. Jeff knew so well how to guide us in working on our creations, but also knew exactly how much to involve himself so that our artwork turned out amazing! I highly recommend taking to stop in, learn something new, make a new friend in Jeff, and take home a piece of art you'll cherish, not just because it's beautiful, but because you made it that way. Thank you, Jeff! We'll definitely be back!

Jeff was amazing. We have been doing the glass floats, dishes, Starfish and other glass items over the years. We have been to several different locations over the last 15 years and Jeff was the best . His instructions and attention to detail is far above any experience we have had in the past. During past experience the instructor would go through the motions and it seemed they just wanted you to finish. Jeff actually wanted our projects to be the best they could be. We made two bowls and a bird.

I love glass and collect glass of all kinds. I have always wanted to try my hand at glass blowing, but I have never taken the time. My family and I spent a week in Newport, and saw a number of glass blowing studios in the area. The first one we went to was closed that day, the Hot Shop was our second stop and he was open. Jeff had a couple in taking a lesson when we walked in, and told us he didn’t mind us watching. We booked our appointment that day! Jeff was very patient with my wife and I, helped us create our own works of art, It was amazing, and the price was worth every penny. For around $65 a person I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I was trying to find a place to blow a glass globe. Their schedule and mind didn't sync. But this is a cute place with lots of other unique shops.

I stopped by to get out of the rain and was greeted with a demonstration on how to blow glass. What a treat.

My fiancé and I had an amazing time creating our own drinking glasses. Jeff gave us the option to pick from any color combination we wanted and asked how we wanted our designs to look. I described to him how I wanted my glass to turn out (like the waves of the ocean) and he understood and we were both very happy with how our projects turned out. I loved that we were able to make almost the entire project ourselves and Jeff was just there to guide as through the process. Of course since it was our first time ever he was there to take over some steps or demonstrate what to do before we did the next task. He is very patient and a great instructor. I highly recommend this experience to anyone in the area. Plan your trip in advance if possible to allow yourself the time to come back the next day to pick up your pieces so you don't have to ship your project home.
