Wow. We used to go to Bob’s for packaged or bulk goods and brunch regularly. We hadn’t been there for several months until Wednesday. Things have radically changed, and not for the better. They’ve increased maneuvering room on the sales floor by reducing the aisles. This resulted in fewer products offered. My wife has always touted the beans she’d buy in bulk for her own soup recipe. This trip they didn’t have what she used to buy, not even in packaged version. There were several items we’d come to enjoy over the years that they no longer sell. We have 2 of their great, red insulated shopping bags and wanted another. They no longer make them. Aaarrrggghhhh! To top it all off, we couldn’t get our favorite and usual breakfast of scrambled egg, cheesy grits, spinach, and biscuit because the no longer offer breakfast til 3pm. We’re never there before noon due to our personal schedule. Now we’d have to be there before 11a.m. - not gonna happen. After decades of enjoying a treat of a trip to the Mill store/restaurant, we’ve made our last visit there. When we asked what was going on, a clerk explained it was all about making a profit to stay in business. And I’m thinking about Bob’s book, “people before Profit”. He had no retort when I brought that up, other than they have to run a business. I get that. But the business did well and expanded world-wide over the last 20 years or so. All of a sudden, and in this soaring economy, the managers suddenly change direction because profit is more important? Methinks there’s been a CFO change and it’s not in the spirit of the company philosophy. P.S.- we found the beans she wanted at Fred Meyer of all places.

Restaurant is clean, employees are friendly and service good. The food is average but almost tasteless with very little salt or spice used. We enjoy it occasionally when we're wanting that type food. On the last visit I had their meatless/veggie patty sandwich. It was awful. Small patty, dry and tasteless. Sawdust patty would have been a good description.

The restuarant food was good and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and helpful. I am gluten free and I was able to find items on the menu that I could eat and enjoy; and there are also items for sale in the store that I would be able to take home to cook with.

Besides having a. Great variety of baking supplies, this is a fun place to just browse and look at the variety of flour, grains, cereals and products available. The restaurant offers a reasonably good variety of options for breakfast and lunch. This is a favorite with the local workers for morning coffee. If you have the time take the tour of the mill. Tours are at 10:00 once a day. Very educational.

Traveled down this way because my hubby wanted to go to sportsman's warehouse which was near by. We figured we get something to eat before we do some shopping but since we hadn't been this far east of Portland before, I had to check online to see what there was to eat. I didn't even know there was a Bob's Red Mill store, imagine how stoked I was to find out there was a restaurant!!! So of course we had to go here. Who doesn't love bobs red mill products?! I wasn't sure what I was more excited about, the restaurant or the store!! We decided to eat first and browse later. You order your breakfast at the counter and they give you a number and then your food is brought out to you. They do ask you if you will be sitting upstairs or downstairs so it's easier to find you. We decided to sit upstairs so we could check out the store from above. Our food came pretty quickly. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy which is pretty much his go to dish if it's on a menu. I ordered the waffle (you could either choose buttermilk or wheat free and after choosing buttermilk, I regretted my choice since it's not often you get to choose a wheat free waffle) with a side of 2 poached eggs and a side of bacon. I enjoyed my buttermilk waffles and eggs and bacon which was thick but on the crispy side, just perfect. Maple syrup was brought with the waffle but you can also get Marion berry sauce too which is what I asked for since it's not everyday you get to have some of that! We also decided to try an oatmeal bowl too, the northwest blueberry bowl. It was delicious. We chose almond milk with it and the almond milk came in a separate little cup but the oatmeal was so good by itself that we didn't even need to add the almond milk. Usually when I eat oatmeal, i just mix it with water so I was just fine with how the bowl came. It was so good, made you feel all warm inside! Breakfast was great and once we finished that, it was on to the shopping! I have seen bobs red mill products in our local stores in Hawaii but there is never a big variety. I have never seen half the products I saw here today! It was awesome to be able to buy all these things I am not able to get back home. Tons of gluten free and organic options too! We asked the check out girl and she said this one is the only one around so If you're around this area, definitely stop by here!
