If the kids want to swim and the adults do, what a fun place . The fishing is great along with the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Fun beach area with the grass sloping down to the water. Boat launches, overnight camping and exploring trails along the lake sides where you can see lots of wildlife. GREAT family fun location.... More

Growing up here in Southern Oregon, we always headed up to Applegate lake during the summer days to go swimming, have a drink or fish. This has been very popular for a long time, the more water we have, the better lake conditions are up there. Have fun, be safe.

This is a great place to boat. It can be busy but it is worth it. It is really quite if you go out in the water and there are some nice trails nearby. Wathc out for Dog poop if you plan on lying around on the grass.

Surrounded by mountains, sitting on a grassy slope while the kids try to drown each other. Laid back and lovely.

Lived in the Valley throughout my life. Upon a recent trip up to Applegate. We found the place littered with trash and disrespectful people with bad attitudes in different locations @ the lake. If you are seeking a clean, friendly, respectful environment. I am sad to say. The Applegate Lake area falls short of a good experience. A group of... More

Great place for swimming, boating, picnics, camping in summer. In winter I run the trails here with my dog. There is poison oak though so beware. Bring Technu.

After you get over the breathtaking views surrounding you when you stand atop the dam you realize the sheer quiet in the air. Nothing but nature, it was like music to our ears. This is in Ruch (pronounced "Roosh") but you pass through historic Jacksonville to get here if you are coming from Medford. This easily makes for a relatively... More

Applegate is a reservoir managed by the Corps of Engineers. I fish there regularly. Excellent small mouth bass and rainbow trout fishing. Beautiful setting, fed with cool water from streams coming down from the Siskiyou Mountains. The far west end actually touches the California border. There are three boat launch ramps and a swimming area for children. Very clean water.
