Murals
Jun 2020
Cottage Grove is famous for hosting the filming of a few movies such as Buster Keaton's "The General" a scene in both "Stand by Me" and "Animal House," and several more less than famous films. The historic district celebrates this heritage as well as the loggers, gold miners, and dreamers who made the town possible.

Enjoy history and murals
Sep 2020
Hard to believe almost a century ago the Little General was filmed nearby and murals capture history. Lots of fine little antique stores and restaurants as well.

Walkable and friendly
Jul 2020 • Business
Walked from my hotel about 2 miles away to this historic downtown. Lovely shops and friendly folk even in the midst of COVID.

Down Town Animal House (Cottage Grove OR.)
Oct 2019
Down town Cottage Grove is a nice place to spend an afternoon shopping and checking out the local flavor. Many places to eat and things to see. The past few years have seen many changes. Come see whats New (old) in Cottage Grove.
And besides you can walk the very street of the Animal House parade day.

Visit Main St and the neighborhoods behind
Aug 2019
"Cottage Grove" is aptly named. South of the pretty Main Street area near the Coastal Fork of the Willamette River, we found an abundance of attractive cottages, bungalows, and other residences. I'd recommend driving around slowly to get oriented, then taking a leisurely walk to admire this lovely neighborhood.

Cute small town. There are several murals on buildings downtown-all done very nice. We went to Bohemian Park to to bike the Row Creek Trail. This was very nice place to find along our west coast trip.

Great history here

Very interesting old, historic buildings here. Was a Monday, so a lot of stores were not open, but there is history posters on most windows of the store fronts. Enjoyed reading about the history of this little town.

America’s all around town, CottageGrove, Oregon
Nov 2018 • Couples
First Visiting we have now moved to Cottage Grove experiencing a fun small town. Purchasing a 1920 bungalow in a historic neighborhood, it is two blocks to Centennial Covered Bridge spanning the South fork of the Willamette River (for a very reasonable price to boot which is not easy in Oregon)

A four block walk begins Historic Old town with dining, music, beer on tap and interesting Antique, bakery and book shops among others. With No congestion, well rated schools and community spirit
we enjoy many varied activities. Murals flank many buildings and 6 covered bridges make a historical loop for bikers, walkers and motorists. Well maintained bike paths are terrific for jogging and biking. Two golf courses are well maintained and reasonably priced. Cottage Grove is on the wine trail with Saginaw Winery and outdoor activities with mountains and lakes at our fingertips. We can even pan for gold.

For big city needs, Eugene is a mere 20 min drive but Cottage Grove provides our day to day requirements. Two thumbs up to CottageGrove.

Interesting historical buildings
Oct 2018 • Couples
We walked down Main Street toward the river and the Centennial covered bridge. It is a fairly busy street but the buildings look like they are from a previous era. It is comparable to Oakland and Jacksonville, my two favorite Oregon historical towns that I am familiar with. I suggest you go to the library where the chamber of commerce is located and pick up the brochure about the self guided covered bridge tour of 7 nearby covered bridges.

Enjoyable town with many covered bridges for bikers and car touring.

Spent three days here for the love of covered.brifges. Ask for the map to maximize your time and distance. This historic town offers more than at first glance. A movie location for Buster Keaton film The General, Animal House and.others. Many historic homes and the Historical Museum located in a hexagon shaped former Roman Catholic Church dated 1897. Covered Bridge restaurant more than amazing.
