Tour was hampered a bit by the extensive renovation going on (most of the explanation of the paintings involved him showing us the photo in the free guidebook as the painting was not up due to construction), but we did learn quite a bit about the capitol. Our tour guide walked very fast (nearly at a run), so be prepared.

Spent around an hour there. It is being renovated and almost all of the artwork has been removed. We could still wander around and see the debating chambers, the murals, and the dome. Was worth the effort but would have been much better without the renovations.

The Capitol is a open 7 days a week and is a great place to view some wonderful art depicting the people and places of Oklahoma. Unfortunately, it is being renovated in 2017 and into 2018, so some areas may be off-limits during this time.

If you have not visited the Oklahoma State Capitol you are missing out. It is an old building but has alot of character and there is a lot to see inside. The Capital Guards are are firendly and helpful. You are free to browse and see all the historic pictures of famous Oklahomans, artwork and history of this great state.

The Capitol building is rather big. It has at least 5 floors containing many offices & artwork. The artwork is of famous Oklahomans as well as Native American Indian art. This is the first state Capitol I've been to w/ an active oil derrick on the premises.

My husband and I visited the capital building on our cross country trip. The capital was nice, if difficult to get to. The government office are all around it and the roads circling the buildings are somewhat confusing.

Entering this building and thinking about the history that has been carried inside the walls is amazing. Be sure to arrange for a free guide to enhance the value of the walk-through!

I've been to a couple of dozen state capitol buildings around the country. This one, though, is the only one with an oil well in the parking lot. Welcome to Oklahoma City. The capitol offers quite a welcome to visitors. This building has an interesting history. It was built in the 1910s, but the state didn't have the money to... More
