A National Treasure in downtown Oklahoma City. The American Banjo Museum contains over 300 banjos on display and is the only museum of its type dedicated to preserving and promoting the music and heritage of America's native musical instrument - the banjo. An interpretive exhibit tells the evolution of the banjo from its humble roots in American slavery, to bluegrass, to folk and world music.

A gem. We had not thought about visiting until we saw the building. Certainly covers the history and performers of the banjo in a creative and attractive way. To a non musician it does show a different world. We were enchanted and delighted.

I have never seen so many decorative banjos. There is a great display about Roy Clark too. The entry of the museum goes through the origin of the banjo. I learned a lot through their presentation. I loved seeing some of the costumes too.
