A small piece of nature that still exists, trails in good shape not too strenuous, easy walking those that have a challenge...g great place to stop off and stretch your legs.

Hogback Ridge Preserve is a nice, hilly hike through the woods. There are stairs, but if you do not want to take the stairs, you can stay on the upper loop or walk down the road and take the trail to the pond observation area. The Preserve is well-maintained and you will often spot squirrels, various birds, deer, raccoons, and now that the weather has warmed, the occasional snake. If we have had rain, the trail can get a little wet, so having boots for you and a towel for your dog comes in handy. During business hours, there is a restroom inside the Preserve office; otherwise there is a portable toilet at the trail entrance. Hiking the entire trail with stairs takes about 25 minutes.…

Have visited this park many times. It has easy hiking trails and many family-friendly activities. There is a variety of habitat for many different animals native to this area. Had a great night hike a few years back searching for and listening to owls. Lovely walking in the fall…

Beautiful, tranquil, scenic, great trails! Good trails for families, not too difficult! Take food and water with you, it's in a remote area. Close to Alum Creek Lake scenic areas as well.

You have to be a little persistent to get here as it's a ways off the beaten path, but if you are, you will be rewarded with a very nice walk. There's plenty of nature to see here while walking along the paths, with a small building to view stuffed animals in and a drinking fountain. If you're not interested in the nearby Tanger Outlet, you can run over here real quick for a hike while others shop.…
