The train ride was recommended to us as a must do by the attendant at our campground, so we hopped online and booked tickets. There was no narration or information given. The train goes very slowly in one direction. You then sit for about 25 minutes, and the train then reverses course slowly back the way you just came. The train was pretty crowded, so we spent about 2 hours hearing parents tell at their children to.please sit back down and kids.crying because they wanted to go to the cafe car to get cookies. Lol. Just wasn't an overall informative, scenic, or enjoyable experience.

Part of the excursion is lovely, but you end up going along backyards, what appears to be a warehouse and the backside of a long strip mall where your view is of dumpsters and trash.

This was a fun way to see the entire length of the park. It was a hot day, so this was perfect. Tickets need to be bought ahead of time, which we did. The docents or volunteers were really knowledgeable, which made the trip fun.

I expected the guide to provide a history of the area, the people who lived here, and the railway. She pointed out a few things along the way but with few details. The rail car was hot and stuffy (only 68° outside). Also, as a single traveler, I wasn't pleased to have to buy 4 tickets. I understand why but $40+ for a disappointing ride doesn't sit well. On the plus side, purchasing tickets online was easy and the railroad staff were all friendly and helpful.

The train is running again this year. The long rides are long with limited viewing; but there is the great bonus of having the option of one-way trips combined with biking and walking. For $5 you can trade your round-trip on the tow path to see more nature without doubling the effort and reviewing all you've already done. Hike or ride downhill and ride back when you're ready.
