On summer evenings you’re sure to see a flock of gulls and terns swoop by, particularly herring and ring-billed gulls and caspian terns.

Nice place to take a leisurely stroll. Kids love it. Lots to see, nice place to sit awhile and enjoy the time by the water.

We love going on a summer evening and walking all the way out to the end of the pier. (The last bit does involve some careful walking from rock to rock; not hard, but do be careful!)

It was the first time in Huron and we wanted to see the lighthouse, the view and the sight was beautiful. You can walk all the way to the lighthouse or just sit down.

We spotted the lighthouse from Nickel Plate beach so we drove over to check it out. We walked all the way down to the light house. It made for a nice evening walk.

There seems to be an endless number of bird species at the spoils site about 3/4 of way out the mile-long pier. Always something going on and watching the lake and river meet is different every single day. If you are visiting Huron don't miss...More
