Werribee Park is a truly unique property with many stories to share. From Aboriginal communities that are known to have wandered the area, to the arrival of Scottish immigrants making their fortune in the 19th century and subsequent use as a seminary by the Catholic Church, Werribee Park offers an authentic insight into three facets of history. Step into the Mansion and experience the opulence of the 1880's whilst listening to the chatter of the Chirnside family with an audio headset tour (fee for mansion entry applies). Take a stroll to the original farmyard where rustic bluestone outbuildings provide a stark contrast to the craftsmanship of Chirnside mansion. Wander through the unique riverine, journey through the contemporary Werribee Park Sculpture Walk or stroll through 10 hectares of beautiful formal gardens and open space park land. Only 30 minutes from Melbourne, take a walk at Werribee Park, today.

My second time here this morning. We parked the car and walked around the complex in decent weather. The fabulous Mansion House was long since converted into a Hotel - my friend and his wife, who are residents of nearby Point Cook, spent two nights here a year ago and recommend it. The complex also has a Free Range Zoo... More

It was a misty day so we decided it would be good to be indoors most of the time so went to the River park mansion. The mansion is quite large and was magnificent in its day. The park board has dine a great job of restoring it and filling the rooms with period artifacts with about 20% being from... More

Really lovely place. Visited at the wrong time of day to see inside but I was impressed nonetheless. Will visit again if I travel to Melbourne again

Ok, we arrived on a rainy day, cold and wanting some warmth and perhaps a coffee, no under cover car park and you have to walk across a cheap dirty gravel path to reception. It was around 4.30 pm, 2 weddings had crowded the one small bar resulting in a line for a drink that lead into the foyer and staff... Drive along a dusty (or muddy) road to nowhere and suddenly come to a carpark. Walk down to the steps and your nature walk begins. A bridge accross the river may afford a view of platypus if you are lucky and birds abound. There are picnic areas or follow the path to Werribee Mansion and explore yesteryear in the preserved... Great spot to take the kids for a run & a picnic. Vast wide spaces where you can throw a ball & fly a kite. (And its FREE to get in to the grounds). Each year they have the Christmas carols (Religious based). Must have a look at the Old Werribee mansion while you are there (small cost involved) or... More

Great place to visit. Went around the gardens and enjoyed the historical huts. There was a laundry hut with an projected that outlined the life of a typical maid. Was great to watch and quite interesting. Would be great for family and kids as there is alot of space to walk and explore. Gardens are particularly nice - well maintained... More

We had the most beautiful Spring day to explore the beautiful parklands & picnic on the grass! We had a nice coffee at the cafe and explored the Mansion which has a very interesting history. It's not expensive and only a short car trip to get there. Make sure you go into the old bluestone laundry building and hear out... More
