The Tour consists of three main elements. The first is an up-close visit to the cliff top towers of the Woolnorth Wind Farm and information centre. The second is a visit to the historic Woolnorth property homestead and historic precinct, while driving through wonderful dairy lands of the Van Diemen’s Land (VDL) Company. Finally, a visit to the breath taking Cape Grim where we see the wonderful coastline, breathe the cleanest air in the world, and witness all the islands off the NW coast of Tasmania.

A Taste of Tarkine (3+hrs)

The tour involves several of the most beautiful locations that the Tarkine has to offer; including Dip Falls, and the Trowutta Arch. Woolnorth! Not just another dairy farm with a few windmills. Woolnorth Tours (Laura) makes this an exciting two hour journey of knowledge. The history, scenery and technical details of running this immense property make for an interesting time. Time in fact passes very quickly and your left mulling over all you have learnt and seen on the return back to... More

This was a wonderful 2+ hours and a great partnership between the beautiful scenery we were shown and the absolutely amazing detail that our guide Laura was able to pass on to us. From the incredible wind generators through to the running of the estate and the the aboriginal history. Would highly recommend this tour, it was both informative and... More

Had the best time on this tour - Fascinated by the awesome wind turbines from afar and up close. Amazing technology and interesting commentary from our very informative guide. From wind farm to dairy and learning about operational and farming techniques and future expansion. Cape Grim has a past and is spectacularly beautiful. Great tour.

A really interesting and informative tour. Helen was extremely knowledgeable with every aspect and her manner was delightful. I found the wind farm part the most interesting but that's because I'm an electrical engineer but the whole tour was great. Well done guys I'd recommend you to anyone.

Our group was met by a professional and passionate guide who explained the history and running of the Woolnorth Roaring 40's Wind Farm. We had morning tea in one of Tasmania's largest shearing sheds, sometimes used as a playgroup/mothers' support network venue for families who work the dairy farms within Woolnorth. NB Dress in warm clothing particularly on overcast days,... More

We've taken many day tours in the past - usually, as in this case, the person taking around can add incredible value to the experience you have. Such is the case with our driver, Nigel, and Woolnorth Tours. His knowledge of the attractions we were interested in was exceptional and he was, quite simply, a great guy to spend a... More

The tour is well worth a visit when your are in the North West region of Tassie. The tour was divided into a few segments, firstly introducing wind farms and its operation, then revisiting the local farming history from sheep transitioning to cattle, finally covering the past poignant dark history of Cape Grim. It was a sunny day when we... More

The two hour Woolnorth tour was very relaxed, but informative. Thanks Laura. The tour started and finished on time. At $66 per person, it was good value. The vehicle was new and comfortable. Although Laura had a very clear voice, she used sound amplification which ensured that everyone was able to hear everything that was said. An insight into the... More
