An interesting place to visit with very knowledgeable staff. You actually walk on the original mosaic floors. There are many different areas to explore with lots of hands on games for all ages.

Great place with so much history, and the mosaic is outstanding. Nice tea and cake afterwards always makes it worth while! Keith & Lisa

We decided to visit this place on a Sunday afternoon as we were holidaying only 3 miles away. What a find. It is an amazing exhibition of the remains of a Roman villa on this sight. Found by accident when a farmer discovered stones when ploughing back in 1811. Visit strongly recommended to any lover of history

This is my local pit stop were I stop for refreshments when I walk my dog. There is no entry fee for tea and cakes, but do go in and visit the villa and learn how the Romans lived and see their amazing workmanship. Go on their website to see what sort of activities they have planed.

We come here every year, the villa is well presented and charming. The mosaics are beautiful and there is lots for the children to do. Ours did the quiz and dressed up like Romans! The staff are brilliant and there is lots of open space to play in. A good selection of snacks and drinks and spaces for picnics. The... More

Set right in the very heart of the West Sussex Downland Bignor would have been one of the largest villas in Roman Britain. The original flooring dates from 350 AD. The villa currently presents a remarkable display of mosaics of the very highest quality. All the mosaics are under cover so this is an all weather venue. There is a very... More

This is a well set out museum (although the description signs could be bigger and better placed) with probably the best (but not the oldest) Roman mosaics in Britain, including the longest floor panel. What I found particularly nice was the enthusiasm from the staff and the helpfulness they exude. The entrance price is reasonable too and parents with children... More

It is located well aware from any major towns (Petworth and Arundel closest - both worth a separate visit) but absolutely worth the trip to see some incredible roman mosaics, most intact or part-intact, as well as the layout of the villa in which they were laid. The surroundings are also stunning and great for a walk into the Downs... More

I enjoyed my morning visit to the Bignor Roman Villa and found the history of the site fascinating. The mosaics were impressive and we had some fun in the little 'play area' where you could dress up in Roman costumes, write on beeswax tablets and learn about Roman coins. This is a good site to see some history and have... More
