Enjoy the vast and beautiful grounds of Wakehurst. Situated in West Sussex and set in 465 acres of country estate, Wakehurst is glorious year-round with ornamental gardens, temperate woodlands, a nature reserve and an Elizabethan mansion. Besides the vast grounds, there is also a well-stocked gift shop, a cafe, a restaurant and a bakery.

Went with my daughter & two grandsons for an afternoon walk, it is always a pleasure to visit Wakehurst Place at any time of the year - the grounds are beautifully kept and the boys really enjoyed the large play area near the seed bank. Wakehurst is lovely for adults & children at any time of year, but is really... More

Stunning botanic garden of world class standard. Parking is very expensive unless your are a friend of Kew or Wakehurst. Plants are to die for, and there is so much to see. Walled garden is amazing. You can easily spend a whole day here with the Himalayan garden and nature reserve, plus woodland walks. If you have a chance to... More

excellent day out, staff helpful and informative, take comfortable shoes as the grounds are huge, some uneven surface as expected in this sort of grounds. only downside is the cost of the car parking, ridiculously expensive if there for more than 1,5 hours and you need to be to see even 1/4 of the area. Interesting display in seed bank... More

As NT members we used to visit frequently when we lived nearby. Hence we did look forward to our first return visit after more than ten years. Probably the most extortionate parking charges we have ever encountered in any similar facility. The park as such is certainly comparable to other NT properties in terms of facilities and things to see... More

Having visited many gardens and arboretums over the years, and being a member of the National Trust, we were looking forward to our first visit to Wakehurst Place. How disappointed we were. This was for several reasons:- the number and quality of the trees was poor; the layout of the site disappointed; there were no "wow" features; few flowers/shrubs. Also... More

Wakehurst Place is set in wonderful surroundings and covers a large site. I enjoy taking a different route every time I go which is easily done. It's always nice to stop off for a tea before the end of the walk as it is just a lovely place to be.

The manor is not worth walking into but the gardens are spectacular. Went for an hour but intend to go back for the whole day as there was so much to see. Nice shop and restaurant. Free entry to National Trust members bit they have to pay for parking.

We went here as we are 'Friends of Kew', so we get free entry to Wakehurst Place as well. We saw so many different types of bird - blackbird & robin, pheasant & nuthatch! The habitat areas are less well defined than in Kew (London), but there were still plenty of different types of plant to see. The cafe stocked... More
