Great day out for 3 yr old
Thomas Land rides perfect for 3 yr old (90cm) grandson. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Went on school day so absolutely no waiting. Take a picnic as food quite expensive. Will definitely go again.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted you had a good day out at the park and we appreciate all of your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back to the park soon! Thanks, DMR

A wonderful toddler day at Drayton Manor.
We had SUCH a good day here to start our 3 year olds first little holiday. We had an unusually hot October day and wished it could have stayed open later as we were having so much fun. Thomas Land is BRILLIANT for toddlers/ young children. My little girl LOVED every ride and it was all so well themed. We can’t wait to come and visit again when she’s a bit older to try some of the other areas of the park!

Drayton Manor Theme Park- Thomas Land and hotel
A must for family’s especially during the Halloween and Christmas season. Lots of fun to be had in Thomas land for younger children. There are entertainment shows on through these periods, including Sir Topham Hat with characters Rusty and Dusty performing on the balcony stand in Thomas land, they are brilliant entertainers and work extremely hard! There are also stage shows in the 4D cinema for Halloween and Christmas which are a lot of fun and nice to have a rest in the day. The added bonus of the park having their very own zoo, nice to take time out there to have a walk and enjoy a vast array of animals and an outdoor park incorporated with an additional dinosaur trail. Cafe and toilets in the zoo area by the Thomas/Percy Rosie train that takes you to and from the end of the zoo area. Facilities are brilliant around the park and they cater for everyone. More rides to come for next year around the park. The park is clean, the staff are all so lovely and helpful with anything. Takeaway/restaurant/cafe hot/cold food available. The park is definitely underrated, they have a lot to offer. A new Vikings stress writing the park is brilliant, real Viking vibe. Look out for the park events that have special events where they keep the park open into the evening which include live outdoor entertainment and firework display. Different types of tickets available depending what time you wish to visit. Arcades and toys shops on site to get souvenirs. The park is really making an effort towards being green, reusable drink offers, natural bee and butterfly habits encouraged around the park. I’ve been coming since a little girl and I brought my son from the age of 1 ever since Thomas land opened, My daughter now at 6 years old can’t get enough of visiting, she loves everything. Brilliant place for grandparents to have a lovely day out or better still have a night or two at the brilliant onsite hotel, which includes two restaurants, amazing staff in all areas of the hotel and food is delicious. Have the option of room service also. Thomas gift shop (very well stocked) outdoor park, bar, lots of event rooms sensible to book for functions. Plenty of hotel rooms, including family, luxury, executive, Thomas character rooms, presidential suite. Breakfast time they do character best for the kids to meet and greet the Thomas land characters. Free evening entertainment which is provided by non soo entertainment who are amazing with kids, on every Friday and sat evening and also including every evening of the holiday half terms. You won’t be disappointed, sooo much more positivity to share but you’ll have to see for yourselves!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted you had a good day out at the park and we appreciate all of your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back to the park soon! Thanks, DMR

Great stay at this resort, shame about some of the safety issues
We came to Drayton Manor on a Stay and Play Packaged for my sons 3rd birthday. We came as a family of 4 (two parents, one child and one grandparent) and had a wonderful experience. The theming is great and Thomas Land is on another level. The rides are great and the shows are also incredible. I have to give a huge shout out to the actors who play Sir Topham Hat, Rusty and Dusty. Not only are they hugely talented, they’re amazing with the kids. We did the trick or treat with them, they all sung my son happy birthday and were just generally so good at getting him to be less shy with them. We met them on a few other occasions and each time they remembered his name and that it was his birthday. Even the next day when we were at the character breakfast! My son is usually quite shy and will always want one of us with him, but he happily went off to have pictures with them on his own. They made his weekend and we honestly can’t thank them enough! The only downside for me, was a few safety issues we saw. As a former rides operator, I was quite shocked at some of the things I saw throughout our stay. But the worst two have to be; - Ride attendants checking their mobile phones while checking restraints - This should be a big no! - We saw a ride area gate open at Shockwave. We went up to the platform and explained what we’d seen to one of the attendants. He told us it wasn’t their gate (it was definitely the gate at the bottom of their lift) and proceeded to laugh with other members of staff about it. Honestly, after the issues they have had in recent years, I’m quite shocked. We did inform another member of staff also, but I don’t think anything was done about it. Which is just beyond dangerous and something I really think they need to look at closely! Other than the safety concerns (which I am sure most people wouldn’t notice), we had a wonderful time and my son has the absolute time of his life.

Great for a 6 year old
Great selection of rides for a 1.2metre 6 year old. Food from the kiosk was reasonably priced in comparison to other theme parks. Staff appear happy/proud to work there and particularly friendly and helpful in guest services. Two ladies in guest services on 22/10 morning, were really friendly, and helpful and started our day off nicely. The theming/landscaping in Thomas Land and Viking area was great.

    Great day out.
Small queues, managed to get on rides 2 to 3 times and visit the zoo, which we normally can't fit in during a summer visit. Kids loved it. Can't fault customer service, we had an issue in summer, our complaint was listened to.

4 year old was happy so so was I!
Got The ‘Pre-school Rate’ ticket as the Modlands half term is not the same week as the south, so cake here ‘out of season’. Exceptional value for me and my 4yo. We were there a full 5 1/2 hours and went on every possible ride that a child of her height 101cm) could. Staff we’re Lovely and (for the most part) really tried to be welcoming to us. A few kiosks and things were shut (as out of season) but queues were short for coffee and ice cream and things. We also walked onto every ride with zero wait times. Some bits are tired (zoo and dinosaur bit) but the playgrounds fantastic and rides the perfect mix of safe and thrilling (for a child). We heeded the advice of many on here and brought a picnic. Therefore didn’t mind spending on a bubble waffle (yum!) and coffee (mediocre). Really would recommend for this age group (being 105cm would have got her on more things though).

Great day out for the family
Amazing second visit to Drayton Manor and even better that the return visit was free! We went on a hot Saturday the first time and on a cooler Monday the second time. There were virtually no queues which means we pretty much did every single ride the kids could go on and some twice! Would definitely recommend this to anyone and so worth the visit.

    October half term teip
A fantastic day out for a 1.1m 5 year old. The bigger rides were out of reach (of course!) but there were so many options including 3 rollercoasters (of varying quality but all better than the octonaughts ride at Alton Towers) and a great ride called Loki. My son’s favourite ride was the haunting which he is still talking about 3 days later. He loves spooky things but I did think it might have been a mistake because he looked quite scared at a couple of points and I thought we might not make it to the end but he was glad he did. Definitely only one for kids who can handle scary things so I’d generally say 7+. Almost no queues meant we got multiple goes on even the bigger rides like accelerator (x3) but it was a Monday in October. We brought our own food and there are plenty of spots to sit and eat, some even under cover. We did however get some donuts which got a big thumbs up. The zoo was an added bonus but we only took a quick walk there whilst munching on the donuts. Staff were very friendly, especially the man with the dragon and Skelton puppet and the girl on the accelerator photos. Really liked the QR code/photo app which made it very easy to track your photos. We travelled from Manchester and it was definitely worth the extra distance compared to Alton towers. We went on about 20 rides after arriving at 10:30 and leaving at just before 4pm. We would definitely return and my son can’t wait to try some of the slightly bigger rides.

Thank you RIDE STAFF - you were awesome
Just a shout out to your ride staff for last night (28 Oct 23). Through torrential rain they never stopped, they smiled, they made sure you got onto the rides as quickly as possible. The weather was horribly and I’m sure most of them were cold, tired and soaked through to their underwear. So THANK YOU for continuing to make our evening as pleasurable as possible!

So we visited here for a day with our 14yr old son.
Now maybe it was because we had just visited Alton Towers a few days prior, but my son was not impressed at this park at all. We lasted about 3hrs here, if that, and the majority of that was spent queuing for rides that either broke down, or were rubbish.

First ride was Pandemonium. There was a huge queue which was made longer by some divvie not securing their valuables; there was a massive delay while maintenance came and checked the ride over. However, this wasn’t explained to anyone, and everyone queuing were nervous as all they could see was a guy with a few spanners climbing up the ladders and appearing to check the mechanics. Whilst this was happening, the ride across from this (Accelerator) was also out of action ; the rollercoaster had become stuck. Great start to my day this was.
Turns out that the best ride of the park was also shut (Shockwave) as well as the Haunting and the dodgems. We seen the Shockwave go round the track a few times with empty carriages.
We ended up on a little train that takes you round the park, and a merry go round. We wasted 15 quid in the amusements as he was so bored, had a slush, and then went home. My 14yr old son was less than impressed. £28.50 a ticket I paid!!! I only paid £44 for a 2 day ticket at Alton Towers, which has far more thrill rides that are worth going on. I really am not happy with wasting £85 for 3 tickets when we stayed there less than 3hrs.
Now don’t get me wrong, families with young kids seemed to love Thomas Land. And there’s a zoo too, which we didn’t go to as a lady I spoke to in the queue for a ride told me that it was horrible as the animals were in cages that were too small for them, and they looked sad. I obviously can’t say if this is true or not as I didn’t go, but it put me right off as I would have been sad myself seeing them if they were like that.

This day out was part of a road trip we we on, so to come all the way from Northumberland and visit this theme park was a huge let down. I will never be back here again.

We went to Drayton Manor last week and their covid measures whilst queuing are a disgrace and are going to contribute to the continued spread of virus. If they can't sort their queuing out they should be shut down immediately - their little marking measures are pathetic and we did not feel safe and didn't enjoy our day at all.

Their staff on the rides were actually working really hard to enforce and ensure people's safety BUT only on the rides - There are not enough staff members to manage everyone else's safety in the queue which is the most likely place for transmission where people are way to close to each other for long periods of time (often under cover or even indoors).

I don't often complain or review anywhere but I was so angry I demanded a refund. Customer services were not particularly sympathetic and we feel that we were fobbed off. A refund would be very much a surprise.

If you are apprehensive in any way about Covid and social distancing do not even consider booking a day out here as it will be a complete waste of money.

Needless to say we will never be returning and we are considering sending the photos of the queues to the press so they take this seriously.

I’m afraid I didn’t feel safe at Drayton Manor today.

When I read that attendance nos were being restricted I was reassured enough to book but the park was heaving with visitors today and while it’s not the park’s fault that so many people seem incapable of following instructions like social distancing, the queuing systems for rides didn’t help; even when you were lucky enough to be surrounded by people who can manage to stick to using the floor markers to distance, because many queues wind back and forwards, in many queues you would find yourself directly opposite someone for long periods with no space to get out of the way. There really needs to be more staff around keeping people out of the way, there was generally someone on each ride but nobody was managing the queues.

As the ride capacity is restricted, waiting times were very long - I’ve been on 3 rides today so not great value for money. It also rained heavily and with indoor dining closed, people were huddled into the amusement arcades with no social distancing going on at all.

If you’re looking for somewhere that feels safe at the moment then I’m afraid this isn’t it.

I love this place, used to go all of the time when I was a kid. Some things have changed but still a good day out. I don't go to a theme park and expect not to queue and this is normally 30-40 mins, but queuing for close to 1.5 hours per ride is excessive and not fun particularly if you have young children. I accept that restrictions have to be in place but these are not consistent across the park. On the shockwave you had to wear a mask in the queue and on the ride with no restrictions on amount of people on the ride. Unfortunately a lot of rides were restricting numbers which just increased the time spent queuing. What's the point if you spend an hour crammed in a queue with other people with it being impossible to social distance for a ride that lasts 2 minutes but you then have to social distance. The number of people in the park also compounded the issue, numbers are clearly not being limited.

Its unfortunate. I love this place but if you are heading to the car park at the end of the day having only been on 3/4 rides its clearly not value for money at present. Will not be returning during this Covid crisis until there is a rethink on restrictions (why not just have compulsory masks in queues and rides so you don't have to restrict numbers on each ride?) and numbers are limited.

What an absolute waste of money. Rides were shut. Rides were broken. Staff are stressed. We went as a family of four and between the four of us we got two rides both of them were rides that we weren’t even bothered about. My daughter who is a thrill seeker didn’t get on a single ride she wanted to. The only one she actually got to sit down on broke down AGAIN and she had to get off. Some of the rides had over 200 minutes queue time witch you queue for virtually on an app. But when the app tells you to go to your ride you then have to join the real queue where you then wait and wait only to be told there is another delay. What they don’t tell you as well is if you join another queue on the app it kicked you out of the queue that you have been queuing on and you have to start the whole process again. Families were arguing with staff and to be honest it is not their fault it is the management who have not put in place actual procedures that work. Those poor staff didn’t know what they were doing half the time and the rest of the time they were dealing with angry customers. Some paying hundreds of pounds for their family day out and most of them didn’t even get on a single ride. What made things worse was that every ride we tried to get on just kept braking down and the park just kept shutting down ride after ride. It was an absolute sham and a waste of money. Stay away and go and spend your hard earned money somewhere else. And don’t forget you pay £6 to park your car there as well. The only single reason Drayton Manor was open today was to get money and as much of it as they could. Drayton Manor don’t care if you have a good or bad day. I want a full refund. And if Drayton Manor are reading this then pull your finger out and get this sham of a family park sorted out. Your an absolute disgrace.

We took our family after the first lockdown in July 2020 for our sons 5th birthday. It was our first time visiting. We're a family of 5 with 2 younger sons and an older teenage daughter. It hit the right notes for the kids with Thomas land and the big rides (these are as good if not better than Thorpe Park in our opinion). We stayed at the hotel so went 2 days into the park which was perfect. We had tired little ones so did most rides day 1 and then focussed on favs day 2. The park was pretty clean and rides all seemed in good condition. Our only negative was covid measures. Not many people social distanced and it was quite tricky as some families were in really large groups 10+ so took up a lot of the walk way in areas meaning we had to really detour to keep to social distancing. When my husband and daughter queued for one ride (patially inside in a large roofed building) they were told to keep moving by staff member, even though they were keeping a distance as people around them weren't wearing masks or social distancing?? Less than a month later it got locked down in Birmingham and if what we saw at the park showed us anything it was that that outcome was obviously going to happen. Apart from the covid measures it was great and we will definitely return!

When we spoke to the call centre taking bookings we were assured that the amount of people being let in the park had been significantly reduced. We went on a Saturday and it took us nearly an hour to access the park due to only one ticket office being open to get a pre-booked ticket printed. (Why they couldn't email it to me I have no idea) we booked using clubcard vouchers. When we got in we went to Thomas land as we have a 4yr old and 1 yr old and there were so many people my husband and I felt very vulnerable and like we had made a really bad decision. We tried to keep our distance but there were queues everywhere as the rides were operating at half capacity and stopping to clean every few rides. For the tiny rides we queued about 40 mins each ride which we just did not expect. My son wa Ted to go on both small rollercoasters in the park and on assessing how many people were allowed on we thought that we would have to wait about an hour and a half at each one. It just wasn't enjoyable in my opinion and we felt like although they were taking precautions with cleaning and distancing on rides there was no way you could distance around the park due to the amount of people inside. That said the rides were great and on a normal day without the fear of covid 19 we probably would have had a good time. I would definitely give it a miss at the moment.

So after reading all the bad reviews I was dreading our trip here that we’d planned, however, I was so surprised and we had a fantastic day!!!!

At first it was a bit unusual to get used to the virtual queuing app, but after 2/3 rides and very helpful staff we managed to get the hang of it!

Me and my partner took it in turns to queue on the app on our phones as you can only select one ride at once.

Every ride was stopped and sanitised, all staff wearing correct PPE, and hand sanitizer located all around the park.

We spent 5 and a half hours at the park, and managed to get on 12 rides and to look around the zoo which took around 40 minutes. The most we waited in a queue was 8-9 minutes.. Some we got on straight away!

Very happy Mummy, Daddy and 2 year old toddler. Thank you Drayton Manor

Visited 21st and 22nd July. Party of 7. 4 adults a 6 year old and 3 year old twins. Kids loved Thomas land. Managed to get on everything with minimal queuing. Only fault to find on all rides throughout park was the time taken to swap riders over. Don’t know if this is a COVID thing but on 2 of the hottest days this year waiting in line with small kids while only one person is letting people on and off gets a bit frustrating. I appreciate safety etc but think more than one member of staff should be on each ride.
I would recommend taking your own bottled water as £2 for one bottle is ridiculous.
I also think £6 to park the car is a bit steep considering how much we paid for park tickets already.

I visited Drayton Manor park today with my 3 year old daughter and we had a fabulous day. We arrived at the Park at around 09.20am. The ticket barrier wasn’t recognising that I had pre paid for my parking ticket but I was advised to take a ticket and I would be let out without a problem when exiting the park (which I was). There were long queues to get into the park before 10am, although thankfully we were near the front. However once the gates opened the staff got everyone through exceptionally quick (no temperature checks or QR code scanning required though like other theme parks are enforcing).

There were so many rides in Thomas Land that my daughter could go on, far more than I expected, as she’s just around the 90cm mark for height. The longest queue for a ride was 10 minutes and the staff on all the rides were friendly and welcoming. I agree with what others have said in that the park is more catered for younger children than it used to be. As a teenager I used to visit a lot and now it seems there’s only 2 or 3 big rides designed for thrill seekers so if you’re a family with older children then you would be better off sticking to Alton Towers or Thorpe Park. The main criticism of the day was the wait for food. We queued for about 45 minutes to get served at The Burger Kitchen, and the staff working there were in no rush to speed things up. Once we finally did get our food there were no tables to eat at. The most frustrating part being people sat at tables without food, while they waited for someone in their party to collect their food (bearing in mind that would be a long wait), I feel the staff shouldn’t allow people without food to take up tables in the eating zones, leaving people with food that’s going cold with no where to sit. If I visited again i’d be tempted to pack a picnic and find a spot on some grass somewhere to eat.

Social distancing isn’t adhered to but you can’t blame the staff when there are so many visitors in the park who make no attempt to social distance in queues etc. Face masks were being enforced in certain queues and on certain rides as well as in the gift shop etc. The Zoo wasn’t great but we only spent about 10/15 mins there as wanted to make the most of the rides, still managed to see some of the animals though. My daughter and I had a great day and will definitely go back over the next few years while she is still young.
