Really easy to get to from Etwall where we were visiting for the day. Well signposted. Good-sized car park. Very helpful gatehouse folks on the till. The machine rooms are on several levels and have some steep staircases. Looking at the restorations and comparing them...More

We visited on one of the Steam Days over Easter. The volunteers were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and we appreciated all the effort that had gone into restoring this lovely piece of Victorian engineering. If there was one criticism it was that some of...More

What is exciting about Claymills is that there always seems to be something new. When I first visited they were talking about restoring more of the pump house engines, in 2017 they'd done just that. Enthusiastic & knowledgeable volunteers accompany this visit every time. Original...More

As a fifty something girl I wasn't sure when he said, you'll love it and it's a steam-on day too. Love it? I had to almost dragged away! Staffed by volunteers, it's probably one of the most interesting, informative and fun places I've been to...More

One of the best beam engines in the UK and a real insight into how a Victorian pumping station operated. the workshops are just as fascinating. Compliments to the volunteers who put so much effort into maintaining the building and the machinery.

If you like steam engines in a working condition and marvel at the engineering this place ticks the boxes. Only open at set times for 'steam days' and best to check out on internet.

We visited for the first time 3 years ago and ended up buying a family memebrship. We go nearly every time they steam. Great piece of industrial architecture with some massive steam engines. My son loves doing the ratty trail
