Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went Tuesday 4th October and it was a great day to go! It was quiet, got on all the rides we wanted to (multiple times), and the only queues we had were for the monorail.
Genuinely, NO queues, but Alton Towers being Alton Towers, was still pushing fast track sales (roughly £10 per ride!).

Alton Towers will never change, and my review won’t ever change that. As they will copy and paste their reply below, I will probably copy and paste this review next time.

£15 for refillable soda bottle! Saw one person stupid enough to buy one all day.

£20 for the photos. Well, I did ride 20+ rides, so I might have done it if I had known about the queues being non-existent. Perhaps if they charged £1 a go, they might actually sell some?

Paint the rides!!! Smiler is starting to look grotty.

Rapids - just close it. Made it so sterile after a couple of tragic accidents in other theme parks, it’s just not fun anymore.

Hex - the video tape is worn out after 20+ years service. And the story still makes no sense. Change or close.

There is a new evil ride roughly where Ripsaw used to be. People were coming off it and nearly vomiting. Can’t remember what it’s called, but it looks like a kiddy ride - it’s not, it’s evil and needs to be avoided!!!

Staff very good though throughout the park, they must get very sore thumbs though.

Took my 2 year old daughter. Had a look at the website beforehand which said ‘All rides and attractions’ in CBeebies land are suitable for children accompanied by an adult. This is PARTIALLY true. Some rides (the good ones) have a 0.9m height requirement. My daughter was 0.88m so wasn’t allowed on. They should be much more upfront about this. Tree top ride was broke and apparently has been for a few days. Iggle Piggle boat ride is a disgrace. Ninky Nonk was broken, Upsy Daisy is old and knackered and needs a repaint, (she also had a massive cobweb hanging from here face) and most of the pontipines were broken. How is someone not checking simple stuff like this? Jojo experience had a sharp piece of broken plastic in the puppet show section but instead of removing it they had simply taped over it which was dangerous. They need to hire someone who understands show productions too as all their live shows are badly mixed. You’re either getting blasted by music and not being able to hear the characters or the mics are failing and you hear nothing at all. As said by many here the food is awful and the cafes are understaffed so are all pretty dirty. Car park is a million miles from the park but they’ll still charge you an extra six quid for it.

Have to praise the aquarium they have there tho which had some very good exhibits and knowledgeable staff.

I honestly can’t believe what they charge for this place. It’s a pure money making exercise with little to no care or upkeep going in to the place. Don’t bother.

We were really looking forward to taking our three year old as he was tall enough to go on more rides. Octonauts, go jetters and the runaway mine train all broke down while we were queuing for them. He also couldn't go on the tree top adventure as this was closed too. This led to a really disappointing out.

The theme park is brilliant, we didnt have crazy queue times, the staff were friendly and helpful and we had great weather.
The negative is the food at the resort. The breakfast was so bad at The Crooked Spoon we didn't bother to eat there the next day. Undercooked food and mould on the bread is not appealing to anyone.

Best theme park in the UK and the app is so useful. It’s a great day out and it’s not too expensive.

Was a Fab day. Very wet & cold, but the staff were very helpful & helped us acquire Ride Access ID for our autistic son (which we didn’t know were available) which helped make things more bearable for him as he was very stressed about waiting for some rides then the rides being closed temporarily due to faults as we got to accessing the ride. Very impressed with the customer services team and the helpful staff at the Pizza & Pasta restaurant (outside runaway mine train entrance) my older son lives the wicker man and we went on this probably 6 times. Thanks once again, the Davies Family (S Wales)

- If using 2-4-1 you can only do this more than 1 day in advance. We tried booking for next day, but this did not work. Online price is however cheaper than the gate price

-Upgrade to a fast track - 100% worth the money. The park didn't feel too busy, but on average we would have been looking at 50-60 min queue time for the bigger popular rides. We got the silver fast track which was for "the big 6" , in all we saved about 5.5 hours of queue time, which meant we got on everything we wanted too plus more!

-Download the app. This offers a live map showing all attractions and facilities, with queue times and closures too. It also allows you to download your tickets and passes to the app too so everything is all in one place.

-Go clockwise around the park. Definitely better to end with the X Sector.

-Expect to pay a premium for food and drinks - try taking own snacks and drinks.

-Pre-purchase your car park ticket. This allows a quicker exit.

In all, it was a great dayout which we all enjoyed. Non-stop fun and laughs.
It's not a cheap day out but is definitely worth it. For a family of 3 booking one day in advance, it cost just over £300 with the fast track (without food and drinks) . We managed to do all the rides we wanted to, there was only 5 rides in the park (excluding the Cbeebies and Cuckoo Land) that we didn't do; x2 mutiny Bay rides, mine train, blade & rapids - didn't fancy getting wet!
