Great venue for a day out and a coffee, the gallery for me is the best part of the house although some of the rooms are very impressive. Kids can go mad on the zip wire then have a fantastic walk up the river to Chain Bridge. You can then finish off withe afternoon tea or a late lunch, this... More

I've been to Paxton House many a time, as it's the perfect venue if you have feral kids that need to burn off excess energy on the wonderful outdoor play park before being able to sit down for any length of time without chewing on the table. You can drag them off to the tea rooms in the converted stables... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Paxton house. We had a lovely lunch in the cafe and then a play on the park and walk down by the river. Would highly recommend a visit and we will return.

As always a lovely place for a walk alongside the banks of the beautiful Tweed river. Sadly the tea rooms weren't open the week we were there but on previous visits they have offered lovely cakes and light meals.

We went for a walk and hope to see red squirrels from the red squirrel hide. Alas we say 2 grey ones so wont be any red, despite claims they have red. From there we saw many birds very close using the peanut feeders-lovely. The walk to the tweed river well worth doing-goldcrests and tree creepers easily seen as path so... More

Whilst the house itself was not open, we had a lovely winter walk around the grounds and popped into the cafe for lunch. There was a good choice available on the menu, homemade soup and cakes, baguettes etc. Our meal was freshly prepared and of good quality, pot of tea for 3 was ample. Staff are friendly, premise was very... More

Always a pleasure to visit here, the guides or those on duty are always first class, extremely knowledgeable and friendly and make any visit a pleasure. The food available in the cafe is fresh and good and the gluten free cherry slices were lovely and moist. We went to the annual Christmas fair and the only criticism was that the... More

The house was closed but anyway we only went for lunch. I had vegetable soup then omelette with bacon followed by scone and hot chocolate. It wasn't crowded and service was prompt- just what I like. Couldn't fault the food. The location is a converted stables I think with a table in each bay. This makes for some privacy in... More

I really enjoyed the fishing gallery and the highland cattle in the field. The lunch in the tea room was really nice the soup and salads. The gift shop is top quality and you must see the red squirrel walk with the river views and adventure playground.

A lovely country house with extensive gardens, wonderful river walk and a very nice tea room which is great for lunch. Quirky room in the old stables with nice group tables in the old pens.
