A proper pub with great beer

Attractive, good sized back street pub with friendly locals, a very good landlord and great beer at a reasonable price.

Tuneful accompaniment
Dec 2019
Many members of a local choir meet here for pre-rehearsal relaxers, and last night they were given the opportunity, en masse, to provide some Christmas entertainment for the rest of the locals. The management and the customers were welcoming, receptive, and generous in their donations to the charity bucket. It made it all feel like a real old-fashioned local pub with its excellent selection of off-the-beaten-track ales and its open fire.

Friendly Welcome
Nov 2019
I call in when visiting the Theatre Royal next door. Last night was especially good - a customer who was in front of me wanted me to go before him because he still had some beer in his glass and I was empty handed. This sums up the clientelle entirely. A very warm welcome and the staff suitably jocular, efficient and friendly. Plainly there are a lot of regulars but they are not territorial - happy to see new faces. Sunday lunch is highly praised - will try it soon; but I cannot imagine it will be anything less than comforting and first rate. Thanks.

Perfect pub.
Four of us went on a jollyboys outing to Broadstairs and Margate. Discovered this little gem in the process. All the beers and ciders are outstanding, really relaxed atmosphere, along with great landlord and staff. Best full sized pub in Margate. A 'must visit' bar. Ten out of ten.

Worth a Return Visit
Met a group of friends here and didn't know what to expect as they don't serve your everyday pub beers but stock a wide selection of ales, my favourite being the Camden Hells Lager.
Love the feel of the place as it is the tradional type of pub that I used in my early years as a pub goer, wooden fixtures and fittings and boasting an open fire!
Hear the food served here is of a very high standard so will have to give that a try on my next visit.

WHAT A FIND!!!
Located in Margate's theatre district, being almost adjacent to The Theatre Royal, sits the London Tavern; yesterday was our (self and better half) first visit to this amazing pub... the ambience and style is at once warm and welcoming and, first because the London Tavern delights me. There are a wonderfully broad selection of beers, ciders and ales to choose from (I partook of the barista stout which delivered a very dark coffee taste. I am honestly surprised, and a little disappointed, that we have never noticed this place before, but at least there is a new watering hole for us to enjoy.... and so close to the delightful Theatre Royal...

We can't wait for our next visit!!!
