Dirty, smelly and disgusting
Sep 2016 • Couples
Popped in a a visitor for a quiet pint, whilst on a short break, with wife and friends. BAD mistake!!!!. Decor was flying of the walls and ceiling, toilets were worse than local public lavatories. Choice of drinks were very limited. Barman looked like he had been sleeping in the place all night, had a drink and left. NOT RECOMMENDED

Vile and dirty
Aug 2016 • Couples
Came Into this pub that I have loved for years. Came in and was shocked. It was dirty and the beer was vile. And the person serving us had no customer skills. And he had a lack of deodorant. Awful. Never again!

Run down, smelly and loud
Mar 2016 • Family
Well. What can I say. We went here to watch the rugby live and were very dissapointed. On entering it was run down and in need of a good paint job. Little to no furniture and very tatty. The smell on entering of sweat, damp and stale beer was overwhelming. We ordered a pint and two cokes, the glasses were not glass. But plastic, and grimy to look at.

They didnt have ice, or bar snacks available either. We sat to watch the rugby but could not here it as they had music blaring out so loud it made my ears ring.

I am unsure why but an elderly gentleman was thrown out of the pub by a young, foul mouthed man and after 30 mins of warm coke, noise and the smell we left.

I would never step foot in here again. Avoid.

What a great night
Jul 2014 • Couples
Went to the opening night on Friday. New landlady cheryl was really friendly, despite her furniture which had not turned up she opened anyway. Loads of friendly people, pub stayed open until 1am. If you want a good old fashioned pub in margate this is the one to go to. Right opposite the beach and just round the corner from the station. Service was quick and efficient, drinks a reasonable price. Cheryl and Darren could not have made us feel more welcome. Fantastic night. I hope the locals support you

Closed at 10.20pm on a Saturday night!

Fancied a spontaneous pint to celebrate my mates birthday and we decided to try out The Shakespere, as we needed a new local in Margate, on arrival, the door was locked and eventually opened by a man who said he had just closed, despite visible customers inside! Seems the only way 2 get a pint in there is by being there at 7pm

Tatty little pub with great atmosphere!!!
Feb 2013 • Family
The gem of Margate. A bit tatty place but priceless atmosphere. Extremaly friendly landlord Tom plus few locals made our evening in Margate unforgattable! Chatty, welcoming and great beer too. Best Guiness and Strongbow in town. This is how it should be everywhere. Old , friendly corner pub. We'll be back to Margate just for another eve in "Shakespeare" , forget the TurMer Contemporary!
