About
Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th-century castle which houses historic 16th-century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the head gardener and his team. Family fun includes jousting tournaments each summer, one of our most popular events.

Don’t bother if you like history....but garden lovely

Awful...no history whatsoever...essentially it was “Anne Boleyn was here”.... room guides not interested in talking to you....so disappointed!!!
Everything overpriced essentially just a money making pit....had been looking forward to visiting for ages....wanted to learn something new about Anne Boleyn’s life but no chance....such a shame....because it could be a really informative learning experience....Gardens were gorgeous but that was not why we went....rooms had dusty mannequins but no narrative to go with them....plus they let way way to many people in!!!!

Lovely day out in late September
Sep 2021 • Couples
Had a lovely day here yesterday- first time for about 5 years - and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The gardens and topiary were beautiful and we had a nice picnic down on the terrace at the lakeside. Despite having some mobility issues, we gamely claimed the steps up above the waterfall to enjoy the view down the Avenue to the castle. A few rests on benches along the way but very satisfying as likely unable to do this again due to forthcoming foot surgery. Coffee and cake taken on the way back. Coffee was superb as were the cakes - I had a vegan carrot cake. Hopefully we'll be able to return in 2023 after recuperation. We have always loved this place and even with covid there was nothing to detract from our visit. Even the toilets were spotlessly clean. Thanks for a lovely day out.

Wonderful day out

Beautiful house full of history. A must for any fan of Tudor architecture or history - especially Anne Boleyn! The grounds were stunning, so much to see. The audio guide was useful inside the house.

Such a great day out for all the Family, including dogs 🥰
Sep 2021
I must admit it's been a while since we last visited Hever Castle, this time we brought our two dogs and our youngest Son (now 23!!!) We had an absolutely amazing day, despite getting lost on the way to Hever, following an out of date map is not such a good idea!! We decided not to go into the Castle (with two bouncy dogs not a great idea), so only bought tickets for the Gardens (£15.95). We used our Tesco Vouchers to do this as the expiry date on some of them was fast approaching. We stopped off at the café upon arrival to grab a late breakfast and a coffee and was extremely pleased with our purchase. Two slices of cake, two huge sausage rolls (no word of a lie, these are huge) two cappuccino's and a soft drink and I couldn't fault any of it. I'm quite particular with my Coffee but this was delicious, extremely unusual for some cafe's. The two cake's (coffee and carrot flavoured) were also delicious, very moist and extremely flavoursome. And the sausage rolls were delicious, our Son decided to buy another on our exit to have for supper!!!

Extremely lovely day out especially with the sun shining and good company. Highly recommended day out for all the family, we are hoping to revisit before Christmas but if we don't get another chance it will be looking forward to a revisit in 2022.

Lovely visit and plenty to do for all the family. Good value for money but gift shop is expensive. Useful earphone guides which allowed you to see the rooms at your leisure

Perfect day out
Sep 2021 • Friends
We visited whilst staying in the Hever Castle B&B, and it was a visit to remember. First in on the morning of our stay, we had time to discover the beautiful and well looked after gardens before entering the castle itself. Having been looking forward to this visit for many years, our visit did not disappoint. The visitor assistants and castle staff were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, a team to be proud of. The exhibits and castle rooms were well presented and was so exciting to see this heritage looked after so well. We ate at the moat restaurant who had a nice selection and again, polite and helpful staff. Highly recommend a visit to anyone for a lovely day out.

A great day out

The website is really clear and informative, and manages your expectations well. The gardens are spectacular. There are lots of special nooks and crannies to come across as you wander around. The lake is beautiful. The staff and other visitors were very friendly to me. The castle was interesting and the audio guide was the perfect length (not too long and boring). The food on offer was tasty. Parking was clearly signalled by the staff. All in all, it was a great day out.

We stayed in the castle accommodation and spent a couple of days visiting the castle and relaxing in the beautiful grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hever. The grounds are stunning. The castle is interesting. Well worth a visit.

Plenty of character and history but admission is pricey
Sep 2021
Spectacular castle and complex. Privately owned and a bit of a money machine but still worth the look. Walk from the station was a bit further than it had been made to look. If you have the time and the cash Hever is worth coming over. Read up a bit first.
