Herne Mill is a Kentish smock windmill dating from 1789. It is Grade I listed & is owned by Kent County Council and cared for by the Friends of Herne Mill. Herne Mill Opening Times: Herne Mill is open to the general public from Easter 2015 until the end of September. The mill is open on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 - 5:00pm with last admissions at 4:30pm (subject to the availability of volunteer staff). The mill is also open by appointment. Admission: £2.00 each for all adults. Children (under 16) - free admission. (Children under age of 12 must be in the care of a responsible adult at all times) Cash Only - we have no credit card facilities. Access: Road access is signposted from the A291 Herne Bay - Canterbury road and the A299. Parking: Limited parking is available at the mill. Pedestrian access from Herne Bay - use the Pigeon Lane footbridge over the A299, turn right into Mill Lane. Public Transport: Rail: 2 miles from Herne Bay station. Bus: 4/4B/6/6B Canterbury / Whitstable / Herne Bay Disabled Access: Disabled access to the ground floor of the mill and to the museum in the Wootton Room. Disabled access toilet.

Had a great tour around the windmill by a lovely volunteer plently of knowledge. £2 each which is cheep and a great part of history that we never knew deffently recommend a visit thank you

We visited the mill on Heritage Open Day so it was free which was a bonus. It is a work in progress as the shutters had been removed from the sails for repair. However there were extremely informative and enthusiastic guides to explain the workings...More

No complaints quick and pleasant staff. I like the rapid isle very good idea and there is eating space out side overall a good experience

No many of these left and this one you can see it workings inside, worth a visit especially to young people who dont even know what they was for when you ask them... the last time i visited this it was in good order

Travelling around Herne Bay the Wind Mill is easily seen and looks amazing in the summer against a blue sky. It is open to the public but only on certain days at certain months of the year so if you want to visit the inside...More

I use to live right by this mill and have watched it grow to the beautiful mill it is today, well worth a visit and do join Friends of the mill
