We walked along the canal and the river. It was clean and well maintained. Took some time to sit on one of the benches and watch the world go by. Granddaughter found at large turtle that really amazed her. River was moving fast due to the recent rains. Will come back and do a picnic on a day this summer.

Unfortunately the Mill was not open, but the small museum was...but not all that interesting. The hike offers paths on either along the river or canal banks and has an easy grade. It was beautiful in Oct.

Riding the canal boat, walking the tow path, and seeing the mill was relaxing and educational. Not to mention beautiful.

We set out to experience the mill and ended up being pleasantly surprised to see that the whole park is beautiful and well kept. Wonderful day in Grand Rapids!

I really think they should put this mill&ride ''out there'' more. I am a canal buff&have looked on many sites.never saw this. Been to other canal, lock, sites& mills. This mill is definately one of a kind, with it's combination electric, water&steam capabilities. The ride was nice, interesting manual locks process, good reenactors also.A charming park&area.

We love the canal ride! We do this at least once every summer. The boat ride is informal but packed with information from the past. The people play their roles well and really know the history of the area. The boat is partially pulled by mules and gently glidez down the canal and back for a pleasant informative relaxing hour... The canal boat ride is very fun with staff dressed in costumes for the time period of the canal boats. They speak to boat riders as if they are riders from the past. Boat ride is pulled by mules on a towpath and passes through real locks. Ride is an hour long. When finished with boat ride you can pet... More

Visiting my sister at BG there are not a ton of options around. This was an entertaining hour long boat ride for the three of us. Not a must do, but fun!

Enjoyed a short ride on a canal boat pulled by a mule and crewed by re-enactors. Trip includes going up and down through a real lock next to the Mill -- cool! The Mill is fun to explore and the re-enactors have lots to share, including fresh-ground grains for sale.
