More
This intriguing castle has been the home of the Berkeley family for more than 850 years. It has been used a filming location for many period dramas, including the BBC's Wolf Hall, Galavant and The White Princess. It was the last place of residence of King Edward II, who was imprisoned in the castle and murdered within its walls. The Castle is open from Easter until the end of October, from Sunday until Wednesday each week. The Butterfly House is open from the beginning of May until the end of September from Sunday to Wednesday, walk amongst the stunning butterflies and tropical plants. A visit to the Yurt Tearoom is also a must! Please check our website for details open days and hours - we are always closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

A lovely review, thank you. It's great that you described the Castle as a hidden gem, many of our visitors agree. At this time of year we're a great distraction from traffic jams on the M5 and only 10 minutes from junctions 13 and 14!

A superb castle, lots to see and an amazing history. The lady guide who took us around made the visit exceptionally interesting. There is good car parking and a café.

Thank you for your review of our open air Shakespeare plays performed in the Castle grounds by Split Second Productions. It's fantastic to read that you're not normally a Shakespeare fan, but were impressed enough to book to come back and see the other performance!...More

Visited with friends, first had tea in the Yurt café, then on to the castle. Steeped in history and lots of facts brought to life by a very informative guide. Then on to the butterfly house. Highly recommended.

What a great place to make our first castle discovery. A fantastic balance of history, family and stuff to do with kids. They loved the giant swing!
