Great that there is the option to walk or get the train depending on mobility or how cold it is! Can go all year round. Only disappointing thing is that there could be more to do once you reach the end.

It is the longest pier in the country and goes a fair way and the views of the coast sure are something.

This Victorian pier has suffered 2 major fires and a collision with a ship in the last 40 years but is still standing, At least the train is back running after recent repairs. nice musium on the platform, worth the visit

Walked down the pier and back. Quite a long, windy walk but very enjoyable. Nice cafe and Lifeboat Museum down at the end. Would definitely go again on a sunny day!

I visit the Pier every year, and I feel that no trip to Southend is complete without it. The weather was cold, wet, windy, but I loved every step of the walk... It is feeling alive with the elements.

Took a bracing walk along this magnificent Victorian pier . The poor pier has suffered many tragedies in its lifetime but true to the British bulldog spirit is still standing and giving many generations of families the opportunity to walk out into the centre of the river Thames. I remember walking it with my parents as a small lad now... More

It was lovey. We found that the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior was moored there. We went back the next day and had tickets for a tour around the ship. It was all very exciting. As eco friendly people, we thoroughly enjoyed our day out on the pier. We returned by the pier train. We have also been on the pier... More
