About
The Queen's Theatre Hornchurch is a vibrant producing theatre in the London Borough of Havering, serving East London, Essex and beyond since 1953. As a registered charity and the cultural hub of the region, over 200,000 people enjoy the theatre's programme every year, including the best in home-produced theatre, visiting live entertainment and inspiring Learning and Participation projects. Behind the scenes almost all of our sets and costumes are all lovingly created on-site by our highly skilled carpentry workshop, scenic artists and wardrobe department. The Queen's receives regular funding from the London Borough of Havering and is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. This helps us put theatre at the heart of the cultural life of the community we serve.

Poor

Very disappointing and not worth the money charged. Too much self-indulgent playing of instruments, not enough interaction with audience and really rather amateurish

Fantastic 'Scottish Play'
Feb 2020 • Couples
Congratulations Queen's Theatre - your Macbeth was superb. All the cast were great, the set and sound effects incredibly atmospheric - and the script wasn't bad either! We were there on Tuesday 26 Feb, sitting close to a group of about 100 young people. They were perfectly behaved. We heard more noise from adults unwrapping sweets!

Amazing Macbeth !!
Feb 2020
The best production of "The Scottish Play" that I have ever seen (including Nat.Theatre and RSC !!).The cast is outstanding - what a tour de force !!!
I was initially concerned about the lack of scenery but the production was superb - minimum expense with maximum effect. Thanks to everyone involved.

Macbeth

Excellent performance, first time attending a Shakespeare play attended to help my daughter with her GCSE so wasn’t expecting to be entertained. The play was amazing, I was shocked at the talented performers, was expecting a very low standard for small local theatre but was blown away with the acting. Will be back

Lovely local theatre
Jan 2020
We very much enjoyed the afternoon matinee with lunch and with tiered seating there was no problem seeing the stage. My gripe is the fact when we came out and needed the toilets the men were let through but the women had to either go back in the theatre bit and exit the other side or actually go out of the theatre onto the street and round to the entrance which a lot did.

Lovely theatre shame about bar
Jan 2020 • Couples
Visited to see musical show yesterday. Show was very good and the theatre is in my opinion better than the more celebrated , cliffs pavillion . Queens has a much cosier feel which creates a more vibrant atmosphere. However really need to sort out the bar. Main problem seems to be the rate of flow from the beer/lager taps. Took an age to serve individuals and despite queing immediately the interval commenced , we had barely been served by the time we were called back in !

The queens is a great place to go. Whether it’s for coffee, lunch or a pre theatre meal (not bad choices for a limited cafe)
The staff are all so friendly and helpful and the group of friends I go with I actually met at the theatre.
I have now moved out of the area and still come for each production as much for the shows as to meet up with friends. The downside is that recently the choice of plays has not been great. I don’t really want to watch plays set in the local area as I lived here I come to the theatre for escapism. Not to feel underwhelmed when I leave. The best thing recently was One man two guvnors which was superb. The lead actor was brilliant, deserves fame and should be brought back for more shows just to liven them up! Now don’t get me wrong the tickets are wonderfully priced and there are the lots of different shows so in a season of three there will be at least one to look forward to. Often more, I just tend to prefer classics like Shakespeare and comedies and musicals. This theatre also has brilliant one nighters and a variety of musical and comedy numbers which are excellent. They also recently housed the great Ian McKellan which was understandably a sell out. The queens is not only very good at getting well know and famous actors to tread the boards and that’s always fun.

Magic of Motown
Dec 2019
This Show was brilliant. Great performers and singing was excellent. Would have got up and danced along but was in the middle of the row.
Enjoyed it very much.

The Bar area has been relocated and find it a bit too small and does not work as well. The Area in the middle was empty and blocked off. We will have our drinks in a local Pub now before visiting the Theatre.

Robin Hood- Best Dame!
Dec 2019 • Family
Nanny Fanny was hilarious, we couldn’t stop laughing. Great cast, great story and a fantastic way to spend family time on Christmas Eve. Highly recommend, I hope it’s the same Dame next year!
