Pay a visit to Shuttleworth in Old Warden and you will have a day out to remember. Shuttleworth houses a unique flying collection showcasing the first one hundred years of flight. Illustrating the history of flight from the early 1900s to the 1950s, you will see how the aeroplane operated in the pioneering years, was rapidly developed during World War I, was used for sport, pleasure and business in the 1920s and 30s and once again became a fighting machine in World War II. You can see fascinating examples ofaircraft ranging from the 1909 Bleriot XI to Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Sea Hurricane. Then you can explore one of England's most delightful (and unknown) historic gardens, the Swiss Garden, created in the 19th century, when an interest in ornamental gardening and picturesque architecture first came together. The Shuttleworth Visitor Centre is a great place to pick up some fantastic gifts, or just relax with a cup of tea and a spot of lunch in the restaurant overlooking the airfield.

An excellent morning spent looking round 6 hangers, at vintage aircraft, agriculture/commercial/leisure vehicles. An opportunity to see aircraft being restored. On the right day, some of the wonderful aircraft are taken out of the hangers, and flown. Unfortunately this didn't happen today. However that will...More

A gem of a place to visit and quintessentially British, extremely well organised, but with an unhurried and relaxing atmosphere, plenty going on and loads to see, culminating in a fabulous early evening flying display of some spectacular vintage aeroplanes. In my opinion good value...More

Nice day out and a chance to see the dedicated work that has made this the experience that it is. It was a flying day and entrance fee was a little expensive .
