Great complex displaying artifacts of Assam history and culture. Named after the great saint from Assam this place is a must visit for museum lovers and also good place for weekends. Handicrafts and libraries are a must go in this place!

The centre is spread across huge land and one can spend the whole day if you want to go into the detail of Assam culture and traditions. The rangghor in the entrance is a beautiful replica of the Sibsagar version.Very well maintained .It has a musuem and very informative about all the tribes ,culture and aborigins of assam . The kalakshetra has a detailed display with representation of all the different tribes and people in northeast India. They display their art forms and their way of life in the form of life like models. There is a section with musical instruments and kitchenware and masks and endless other items. This is the best museum I have been to. Well organised, well maintained and very informative. It gives an insight into the history, anthropology, culture and life style in North East India. It includes a museum which gives information about Assam's culture! Entry fees Rs. 30 per person, parking is also available inside campus for Rs. 20 & still camera charges Rs. 10 It is situated quite outside of Guwahati city The campus is big n well maintained. The Kalakshethra is named after a poet & a reformer. An imposing entrance with traditional Assam architecture can be seen. Parking is not allowed at the entrance. We have to pay ₹20/- for 4wheeler & ₹30/ per person as entry fee. There is ample parking inside. Beautifully landscaped lawn, plants with flowers & a large pond with fish welcomes you.... More

Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra is a culfural institution located in Punjabari area of the beautiful city Guwahati, Assam. Including Museum, many more atrection are there to see. It was established in 9th nov, 1998. Must visiting place.

Very good and knowledgeable place. It starts with the park all around. There is small entry fees. But this place is huge. One can kill 2 to 3 hours easily here. Other than park there is a small temple at some height. There is a small cafeteria to get refreshments. And there is décor shop here which sells hand made... More
