Took my 2 little boys here to scout fishing potential. Unfortunately the water level was too low but they have recently pumped enough back in (I'm told the nearby Alum Creek reservoir shares resources with this body of water). The boardwalk itself is cool and people were jogging on it. There's an old well visible when the water is that low though, which was unique.

Awesome spot to get out in Nature above the water. Great place to throw in a fishing line and catch some fish, while enjoying sunrise or sunset.

They could use a bit better signage, but we found the correct parking lot eventually. This is simply a walk on a boardwalk that stretches out over the mudflats and water of the Hoover lake. Very nice way to view birds, fish, and shellfish.

We love boardwalks and had no idea there was one so close to us in Westerville, Ohio. The Hoover Mudflats Boardwalk is a decent length and if you walk to the end, you'll get to the see the osprey nesting. It is a park, and therefore, FREE to walk. There are many people fishing on the boardwalk, which you'll have to walk around and be a bit careful (thinking: small children). The boardwalk offers a great view of Hoover Reservoir and you can watch kayakers coming and going, fish jumping, blue herons, etc. It's a short walk from the heart of Galena, where we first stopped for a delicious dinner and local craft beer on the patio of Mudflats Bar & Grill. (Kids eat free there on Sundays and Tuesdays - and they have great kids meals!)
