So much history here. From the final resting places of famous folks, to the fantastic creativity of some of the old monuments, to daffodil hill, this is a really nice place to visit for a couple hours. Plenty of things to photograph, and the place is huge.

An enlightening afternoon for all - plenty of outdoor space and impressive city views from the opulent President James A. Garfield Memorial. Dedicated in 1890, the memorial's main hall is lined with detailed mosaics. Adults and kids can walk up the circular stone stairwells to an outdoor viewing platform facing Cleveland and Lake Erie. This adventure is free of cost... More

So I DO like cemeteries to begin with because of the history and art they convey. Lake View is unmatched! If you like to experience the "big names," there's President Garfield, Rockefeller, etc. Historical figures like Eliott Ness or Ray Chapman. Stonework that reflects the best that Italian stonemasons could provide. Rolling hills, lakes, a nature path, an a full-size... More

At first I thought who wants to go there, then we got there and was interesting to see the history there. The wade chapel is really small but beautiful.

This was a side trip on my way to Iowa. I love cemetery and funeral statuary.... and this was a treasure trove of both. The main draw is the President Garfield memorial (which gives the Prince Albert memorial in London a run for it's money!) but I went to view The Haserot Angel. Aka "Cleveland's Angel of Death" The pictures... More

This cemetery is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places I've ever seen! There are a couple small ponds near the Wade chapel. The tombstones and statues around the larger lake are so beautiful. What a lovely setting. No parking except a few spaces near the Wade chapel. Worth a visit to drive through and to visit Garfield's monument.

I took the Healthline bus from downtown Cleveland up to Lake View Cemetery. The bus stop is almost right outside the Euclid gates. I obtained a map of the cemetery from the office. The office clerk told me I would miss a lot of the beauty of the cemetery since I was on foot and the cemetery was so large... More

Lake View Cemetery is an enormous garden park cemetery located near the formerly prosperous East Side suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Almost all of Cleveland's early notable people are buried here, including the richest man who ever lived, John D. Rockefeller. The cemetery is a big, sprawling place on rolling hills that are literally the first foothills of the Appalachian mountains.... More

Having read the reviews about the Lake View Cemetery we wanted to check it out. People were walking, jogging, sitting and reading, grieving, driving around, sightseeing, and taking pictures. It seemed rather strange to see people in a cemetery treating it like a regular park, but who are we to judge? Over all it is just a cemetery with mausoleums,... More

My husband and I stumbled upon the cemetery while visiting Little Italy. We were blown away. President Garfield's tomb is 3 stories high with views of Downtown and Lake Erie. Many Clevelanders such as John D. Rockefeller are also buried there. A visit to Wade chapel is also a must. Complete with a historian who tells the story about the... More
