This is an especially beautiful site to visit and, especially for people of lesser mobility, the boat trip round the lake is an utter delight. The cafe has a beautiful view of the lake and serves perfectly decent looking food. I did not eat there, but just had a drink and some crisps.

If you truly appreciate being in the bush, seclusion, and seeing nature at its best, then this is the place for you. The origin of the crater lakes of the area is interesting enough, but for the enlightened nature lover, that is, the one who sees more than just the track ahead, this place is paradise. There is a 4... More

Another must see when in Cairns or the Atherton Region. Better than Cairns botanic gardens for veiwing the two big butterflies as the gardens are butterfly attracting. Saw 5 Ulysses and two cairns birdwings all together on one tree at the front of the Cafe

This lake is beautiful. The walking track around it is also very interesting. There is a beautiful tea-house with reasonably priced food and drinks for morning tea, lunch and ?dinner.

What a fabulous walk round this tranquil lake! So quiet you could hear a leaf fall from a tree. The walk seems longer than the 5 kms sign but it is well worth the extra effort. Good pathway and even gradient. Not too many photo opportunities of the lake but enough at various vantage points along the way. The only... More

We were greeted at the car park by feeding Cairns Birdwing and Ulysses Swallowtail butterflies, so beautiful to watch! There were about fifty Great Crested Grebes gathered out on the lake. A female Riflebird was seen feeding in the Pandanus. Musky Rat Kangaroos were seen crossing the track near the bridge. Lots of other birds to be seen and heard.... More

We did the lake cruise, and found it OK. It's a nice oasis and people new to rainforest and water would appreciate it more than we did.It was OK, but nothing spectacular.

I come here to relax and get away from the bustle of the city. I take my kayak as there is a boat ramp. And l lot of space to park. It's dog friendly which my two enjoy. The boats are not a hassle as they are considerate of other people in the water. BBQ facilities are available which are... More

Both crater lakes Barrine and Eachum are spectacular spots to visit. Fresh water lakes from extinct volcano craters. Has been set up for great family days
