The two older gentlemen on duty were so knowledgeable and helpful. Enjoyed the museum for a gold coin donation. Couldn't see all of it because of time available but so much more to see, very interesting place to visit and a good break from travel. Food and refreshment available.

A great place to visit with lots to see. The staff at the information centre are very friendly and helpful, with lots of advise on places to visit. The museum is free .. with a donation if you want. It's worth a look at. Just love Mareeba and its people.

We stopped off in Mareeba on our way from the Tablelands to Port Douglas as we were told there was a market. That was pretty mediocre but what we did find was this wonderful heritage museum. It starts with aboriginal life, then the settlers, world wars , mining , tobacco and life in this town through the 1800s and 1900s.... More

We stopped here, as we find Visitor Information Centres in Australia very helpful, and they certainly were, providing us with maps and very helpful information about the area. It's staffed by enthusiastic volunteers, not trying to sell a tour or work the commercial slant. But what really stands out here is the museum. It's been painstakingly curated with masses of... Good collection and not just a view only museum. Kids run around and had fun learning while having fun. Loved the telephones.

We visited with family back home in mareeba and have always seen the museum as .... well just that... a museum. But the cafe has opened up a whole new taste sensation and a whole new reason for the new to visit the old. It's not airconditioned but the breeze and outdoor eatery was just wonderful. Couldn't have asked for... More
