Great place to spend the day with family or as a group. Shelters, BBQ's and picnic tables along with the associated toilets facilitate great recreation for tourists and locals alike. Water skiing, boating and fishing are very popular. At this time there is a momentous drought and the water table is extremely low making Red Claw a popular past time.... More

recommended the drive as tourist route into emerald...drive across dam road...ok for caravan, just take it slow as sealed road a bit wavy in parts. Go to the lookout, or take turn and go down to the lakeside. I'm told there is redclaw there too.

Spent a day on the lake casting lures and dropping red claw traps. No fish unfortunately but we caught 50 red claw over two nights with some up to 30 cm in length. A pretty fair result. It,s a pity that SunWater doesn't allow camping other than at the caravan park which necessitates travelling from town to the lake each... More

The water is pumped into open irrigation channels to supply water to various farms which in turn produce various crops including citrus, table grapes and varying forage crops. It is also... More

Went for a drive to Fairbairn Dam. Pleasantly surprised by scenery, although water level was quite low. Looks like great place for families.

Drove out to the dam & spent a couple of hours relaxing near the water. The dam is quite impressive. Water sports & swimming, plus fishing. Also visited people at the caravan park there

Apologies to Lake Maraboon I recently reviewed what I thought covered Fairbairn Dam at Emerald and gave three stars as my main review was to do with the Dam. As I can't change a review already posted please let me clarify as I wrongly posted about Fairbairn Dam including it in a review and star selection on the Lake Maraboon... More

There's not a lot of facilities here. Then again, it's the perfect swimming spot for Summer. Plenty of space to pick a private spot, plus amazing views of the sunset.
