Lovely, very old eleventh century ruins beautifully maintained. Not much left of the actual castle but the surroundings are ideal for picnics and viewing the local area. Wonderful old church within walking distance which is well worth a visit.

Scanty ruins of a tower or gatehouse, and walls surrounding the outer bailey with a motte (mound) in the centre. This a very good example of a Norman motte and bailey castle to be seen anywhere.

Don't expect a big castle!!! However it's a lovely place for a family picnic, games, exploring, dog walking etc all in beautiful Sussex countryside near some lovely pubs for lunch, a snack or just a drink.

Albeit not much of the castle left, just some stone walls, but it is a fabulous place for a stroll. Kids can run free across the grass, and somewhere, here's a rope swing for them to muck around on. Great views over the river Adur...More

Lovely spot for a walk or a picnic. Great view into the valley. Wondering around the area, looking at the ruins you can't help but wonder what life was like in the Middle Ages at this old Castle

If time is scarce miss this castle out as all that is left is one castle entrance wall. It is free to enter and only takes 10 minutes to look around. Have to use your imagination a lot to get the feel of what it...More
