If there’s a better way of seeing the Peaks, with family, or alone, I don’t know of it.

Three immaculate ebikes, hired from James for a total of six days - and what a place to ride these hugely capable machines. The Trek Rail 9 took every big chunk of gritstone in its stride, with massive travel and buttery handling, the Rail 5 a superb blend of long travel and nimbleness, the Powerfly ace fun. Not only for regular bikers, but an (almost) octogenarian also easily managed 30 miles: a family pleaser. I can think of no better way to see Stanage Edge, Bamford Edge, Howden Moors, the three reservoirs and so much more, than like this. Highly recommended.

Awesome Peak District MTB Hire / Shop
May 2021
Hired a mountain bike for 2 days, James had an awesome bike ready to go for me.
Great shop, super friendly service, and bought some nice gloves there as I had forgotten mine.
James was knowledgable about local rides and gave me some great suggestions.
I'd recommend getting a GPS from him as he has the local routes ready to go!

5/5 - if you are looking to MTB in the Peak District this is the place to go.

I came across James when Googling to find someone to hire an e Mountain Bike from for a day in the Peak District . I’ve now hired a Trek Rail 9 a few times from James with some mates and have been looked after superbly well . James is an enthusiast and you can tell . The bikes are superbly maintained and James spends time setting up the bike for you so all is well . The available routes are all well explained and recently the addition of a GPS makes the job of navigation so much easier than maps .
On my most recent trip last week I had a slight mechanical issue and James came straight out with a spare wheel and we were up and going again in 20 mins . Superb service .
For anyone that hasn’t tried an electric e mountain bike I’d say try one . They really help with the climbs which means you can easily cycle up and down for 25 miles or so . We do the black and red route up Shatton mast looping through the concrete works and then up and around Lady Bower reservoir which depending on how many coffee stops we take takes about 5 hours or so . This uses all the battery up for a 90 kg bloke . I’ve got it now to a fine art !
James has a variety of bikes to suit different skill levels and sizes and we normally hire 4 at a time .
The routes are fantastic and it’s a great day out .
I would wholeheartedly recommend James without hesitation.

Hired an amazing Trek Rail 9 from here and had a great day out riding, great fun. Top class service but ended up leaving my helmet behind on the cycle rack. They saved it for me, great company, great value, will be back soon for sure 👍🏻

Rented a full suspension Trek Remedy 7 MTB for the day!

A hidden gem in the heart of the Peak District, in a great location to start on many exciting and adventurous nearby rides. I did the Chinley - Bamford route which was challenging to get back on time for shop closure!

James was particularly helpful in setting the bike up to match my height and weight, and in offering plenty of advice as I intend to get my own full suspension mountain bike one day...

Been so many times and always recommend friends to go there too. Very close to lots of great riding - suitable for all type of riders from beginner to intermediate and advanced. James always provides a friendly and knowledgeable service, alway there with great tips and advise about routes. When we first visited he gave us a map and marked a suggested route. He is always super kind about letting us wash our own bikes (our first trip inspired us to buy our own bikes) and give advice about repairs or upgrades. Just genuinely a great guy and a great business. Would recommend to anyone.

Solo Trek in the rain
Oct 2020
Had a great time trying out an electric mountain bike for the first time. Really impressed with the bike and with the route that James had programmed into the bike computer. Not having to look at a map was a definite plus in the driving rain. The bike was in better condition than me, and got me up and down through 30+ miles of gorgeous Peak District scenery.
