My cousin and I decided to venture to Dovedale one Saturday afternoon in February. After getting slightly lost in trying to find a car park and ending up in Ilam, we finally came across the large car parking space (not sure how we missed it the first time!) £3 to park all day, paid on entry. We were advised as... More

We went on a 6 mile walk around this area, it was hard work but well worth it. Breathtaking views and perfect quietness. There are lots of different walks to choose depending on how adventurous you are.

Walked down from Bigging and around to Colastden Bridge through vales and along the river. Can be very muddy in places but caves and surroundings to explore. A number of paths to move off from.

A lovely walk, about 2.5 hrs to Milldale and back, which includes much of the best of the 'highlights'. Visited in February, but still very busy. There is a large car park but beware, it is privately owned and not NT (which Dovedale itself is). Rounded the visit off with a quick jaunt up Thorp Cloud, for a super view... More

Dovedale is a beautiful place to visit with great scenery and wildlife, a fab place for families to introduce their little ones to the great outdoors. However, if you enjoy a quiet walk, without many people, this is not the place for you. We spent every 30 seconds greeting people (some of which were miserable and not keen to be... More

Beautiful place for walking, car park not too expensive. The walk up Thorpe Cloud was steeper than anticipated! Lovely day out!!!

After lunch at the Isaac Walton Hotel, it's a nice walk along the river, crossing either by bridge or by stones (interesting teaching the dog to do this - at least some of the mud washed off her!). This walk is a real treat but we only went as far as Lovers' Leap as the sun was going down by... More

Beautiful Place, £3 to park, 20p to use the toilets - but never seen it so littered. PEOPLE ARE REAL SCUM BAGS. There were bags of rubbish left in caves, bottles, chocolate wrappers etc just everywhere, & DOG POO BAGS JUST TOSSED INTO THE TREES THAT THEN DANGLE. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE TAKE THEIR RUBBISH HOME?
