A fantastic piece of social and local history, the ladies running the site this week were great, with working demonstrations of an industry most people know little about. A genuine time capsule in a lovely location.

Having studied textiles since school I am always fascinated by mills, especially the history and methods that that have stood the test of time. We have English Heritage membership so didn't have to pay for entry, we joined the first tour of the day around the mill which was brilliant. The lady who showed us around was a real credit... More

An English Heritage owned attraction (so free to members) that we found very interesting. The guided tour was very informative. The mill is about a 20 minute walk from Lakeside, but there are no pavements so care should be taken.

This is my first review of stott park bobbin mill but we have been here a couple of times before. It's easy to drive past the entrance as it's just past a sharp bend on the main newby bridge to hawkshead road. We visited about 8 years previously and me and my wife were fascinated back then. Quite a bit... More

I dragged my wife to this out of the way place because I had seen glimpses of it on the television and it looked special. This proved to be the case: myself for the engineering and my wife for the human interest. With the excellent guide making three bobbins from start to finish you really appreciated the mind numbing boring... More

I do like this sort of industrial based museum, so perhaps I'm bias, but seriously this was a real highlight of our holiday. Even the kids (who can be easily bored), loved it and after the holiday was done was one of the things they remembered as their favourite visit. The tour guide was amazing.....really passionate and worked to make... More

Very informative and well put together interactive tour. Visited for free being on the Barclays premier app for English Heritage . It's great for all ages. Plan to visit on a steam day to get the best out of this. Parking is £3 but you get it back.
