Thoroughly enjoyable. We took the train from Ravenglass to Boot and then did a good hike in the hills and saw the waterfalls. We had a great time and really enjoyed the experience. Even took the dog along with us!

A great little steam railway with very friendly staff and great for kids. Only the main 2 stations were open due to COVID but both of these have are fully open with cafes and gift shops. Worth a visit

This trip began with us missing our train due to a truck getting stuck on a bridge enroute. I mention it because the lady at Ravenglass Railway (Tracey) was amazingly understanding and went out of her way to rearrange our booking. On the way back, we were in Seats 13 and 14 of the Joan, which are the front seats. Of course we were now facing backwards, so Joan was the last carriage instead of the first, and we had an unobstructed view of the track and passing glorious countryside...and it had stopped raining! By far the best seats possible. There is a cafe and shop on both of the station platforms, of which we took advantage. This was fun....

We had an enjoyable morning day on the steam train. All the staff where really friendly and helpful. The stations are well maintained and really clean and whilst having a coffee at Ravenglass the tables were continually cleaned as soon as people moved away. The carriages were clean and we saw them being sanitised for the return trip. The steam trains are lovely. There are gift shops and cafes at both stations as well as toilets. Can highly recommend
