Overview

Situated on the Southern tip of Lake Windermere. Lakes Aquarium has a wide range of native marine and freshwater fish including Pike, Arctic Char, Seahorses and more. It is also home to Asian shortclawed otters, pygmy marmoset monkeys, Clown fish and amazing leaf cutter ants. Cafes and giftshops are available onsite and we can be reached by Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway or Windermere Lake Cruise as well as by car. Please note the car park is not owned by the aquarium and is pay and display. We are sorry but we cannot allow dogs inside the aquarium building.

This is a lovely little aquarium with some interesting exhibits. We particularly liked the otters who were being fed when we arrived - the talk was informative and pleasant, and the staff member came out afterwards to talk to us further and answer any questions....More

My wife and I stopped in for 20 Minutes before jumping on one of the lake boat tours. The place is extremely tired but the staff were nice and welcoming and the general array of exhibitions good. Perfect if you want to kill time with...More

The aquarium is lovely to look around for up to an hour I'd say. We really enjoyed it and there's a decent amount to look at for the price. Our daughter is 18 months and loved the colours, lights and obviously the different animals to...More

Thank you for your review we are pleased that you enjoyed your visit. The tunnel houses species that would be seen in Lake Windermere and the water used within the tunnel is water taken directly from the lake. Unfortunately this can mean that natural algae...More

What a lovely small but well put together aquarium. Lovely surprised all the way to the end - including a tortoise that walked with the visitors, rays, and giant sea horses. Awonderful place to visit and occupy small children for a couple of hours.

Visited here with the family. The display tanks are all really good. A good mix of fish and other creatures to keep the kids engaged. Nice cafe opposite the aquarium with a good view of Windermere

When the rain is so bad in the Lakes, this little indoor aquarium is a cheap afternoons entertainment for the kids. Otters, sea horses, stingrays, monkeys... more than we expected. For a small aquarium in the north west of England, it's not a bad job.
